Thanks dude. I really do need to start using shadow/ light to define things.
That no-lines image was just me hiding the line layer after I'd finished; I hadn't attempted to tighten it up without the lines. Excellent advice, though - lines do tend to jumble things up, which is why I left as much line as I could out of that last one. I need to touch up the yeti kill in that respect.

quick-ish character attempt before bed (as in, I'm sure there are some lighting mistakes that I will notice once I've gotten some sleep).

Easy on the kitten-launching, dude I like that pic It's different; kinda like the hummingbird pic -- it jumped out at me cuz it's something new 'n' crazy.

Keep throwin' those curveballs every now 'n' then... they're refreshing

    Cheers

gkrit - thank much dude/tte. Figure studies do indeed to wonders.

amontillado - Thanks for the words. I guess I was just in a Mood because it wasn't looking like I wanted it to look - hard brushes are the answer, methinks. That will be fun...

Sci fi doodling. First one screamed terminator, so I'm gonna try to make it more "found object" type of design. Found tanks, found planes, found people.

Thanks dude! Glad you like it.

Along with being too much like Terminator, it wasn't exactly what I was going for...more of a post-apocalyptic horror type bit with a computer program that harvests meat and metal to create its "undead" -type army of cyborg-y things? Or something. Oh well. More doodling

Just a typical-ass dragon, per a request. Went simple/quick on the colors. It's been a while since I've inked anything...too bad my smallest-tipped technical pens are over-dried and useless at the moment.

After that ridiculously typical dragon, I decided to try my hand at another ridiculously typical thing, but actually put some effort into the design.
Yaaay for my first elf. Yaaay for sexual ambiguity.

PS - That last detail is half masturbation, half "Am I doing it right?"

Fixed up the colors on that yeti kill thing; took out a lot of the saturation, which helped tons. Still don't know if it's cold enough, though.

Yaaay for post-apocalyptic aliens. After I tweak the design and pose of/ redraw that second guy, I'll be putting them together, and adding a background. Super-duel ftw.

    I am, a little bit.

Now that you mention it, that would have been a cooler pose...still, I was trying to lay down the armor design more than anything else, and the pose suffered for it I guess...oh well. Since he's facing off against an adversary, I went for a "bring it on!" kind of feel. Once I nail down lighting like the bitch it is, I'll be trying out more complex action shots...actually, may go ahead and try that...

Work has been killing me, but I had a day off today, which means art night.
First time trying out "electricity" - yay for that.

The first one is what happens when I don't practice drawing hands for 3 weeks.

The second one is what happens when I try drawing while exhausted/ tired as balls.

    Jesus Christ.

I think your drawing style could take advantage of varying line width, i alos might play with lost an found lines

it might make your drawings more fluid and organic

using the same line type makes your images seem flat to me

mmm def missed a lot of updates here, have no idea why.
You've been busy, and it shows, characters and lines look better and better,
i still find sometimes you exxagerate a bit with the clothes/costume/skin patterns, and still waiting you'll start painting over the lines instead of under them (i'm trying recently, and its not too bad, just brings in more factors that make it a bit harder but more descrptive from the form point of view.
I really liked the recent "ridiculously typical" things (god that hurt) and some of those shots at illustrations like the scouts and yeti killing one.
Btw, the thing you were referring too in post 733 i think is alled a Katar.

    keep 'em coming

    ciao!

jdeegz - But viewing my picture only takes 2 seconds, instead of 2 hours! I haven't seen Teeth, but you're not the 16th person to tell me I should check it out (I tend to draw lots of vagina-mouths).

Xiloyd - Thanks much for the kind words.

Gnoll - I actually had a real bad dull point the last couple months (new day job), which is evident in my hands! It irks me.
I'm actually not going the route of digital painting, video games or otherwise - I wanna do comics! That said, I know learning to paint with value exclusively will only help me...I just can't seem to wrap my mind around it. I'll post some attempts later this evening to give you an idea of just how much it baffles me.
And I hope the "ridiculously typical" remark didn't sting - I only meant that I don't usually draw elves-and-dwarves-and-men, because I'm snobby. That said, they're really fuckin' fun to do, and they feed the imagination...so I no longer hold that stigma. Yaaay
Speaking of which, here's my first fairy!

Still not 100% on the colors, but getting there. I will need to look at it again with fresh eyes when I go in to iron out all the details.

The better results of today's sketchery.

Some colors for my generic action movie characters.
