    Mantawolf? Indeed.

    Not inking things helps with colors.

    the way you are highlighting / shading things is killing the form of the object that you are working on. For instance - the cape / wings what ever they are, you create a smooth highlight but you dont extend it to the sides, showing it sort of rising like a bulge, with the light coming directly from above, rather than a flat plane. The light blue highlight you got goin around it is doing alot mroe damage than popping it in my opinion becuase it isnt where the light is coming from, and if it is the reflected light it is very inconsistent. I think if you were to shade each form as a primary shape would be shaded (square cylinder sphere) you will be able to understand the form more instead of just high lighting the front of every plane the same.

    i guess what im thinking is that most of these dudes have highlights in the middle of thier arms/legs/what ever instead of to the left or to the right. it is like the light is coming from a flash of a camera. and if you have ever used cameras you may notice how using a flash will immediattly flatten the focus of an image.

    the spine of the dog should decend behind the head rather then ascend, and you im thinking that the manta ray wings would be seen less fom a top view and more from the side.

    bleh sorry for my ramblings, im tired from working for the past week every day from wake till rest on finals =\
    gl to yah.

    Do not, ever, under any circumstances, not have fun.

    Thanks for the critique, man
    I actually wasn't really thinking about lighting/formation of planes with that sketch so much as I was thinking about line and color, but all very good things to know. I redesigned the mantawolf, anyway, so I'll be painting another at some point...

    I'm moving to Austin, TX next month. Hmmmmm.

    You have a thick knowledge of animal anatomy, but I think your human figures need more life in them. Your style is really chiseled, and that's cool, but their movements looks jerky, so I'd do some more gesture drawings and life drawings of people in clothes. I like the way you use so many hard, straight lines though. That must be really fun to draw.

    Thanks eminkey;
    I actually don't draw creatures/animals very often, which is why I've done these last few posts...but duly noted. I need to draw more people. I'm really comfortable with beasties, and it'd be great if I could be that comfortable with humans...which is why I'm drawing them, pip-pip

    It's about time I got back to this comic
    (I'll probably end up re-drawing this page, but meh)
    I think the paint-on-top-of-sketches will work well for it.

    Your sketches are really strong. I love your edgy feel, has a lot of energy. My advice right now would be hands. Just do at least five hands a day (thats what helps me) even if they are quick and loose. Just capture the energy and flow of a hand at least. Trust me it does wonders for all organic drawings. Your feet on the other hand (no pun intended), are really nice. They way you draw them is very confident. And the reptiles are fun

    KPtoons - Thanks man - that's excellent advice. In fact, I'll get to today's hands right now...even if it's not technically "today" anymore...
