    ImagineFX, Android Jones interview

I was in my local B&N and I was looking for art magazines and found ImagineFX. I had never heard of it, and I was looking through it when I saw this wonderful article about Andrew Jones. It was extremely inspiring. It had a workshop type thing in it and an interview. The magazine is printed in the UK, but I live in the US, and this was a big surprise to me. To bad I didn't have enough money to buy it. I might ask for this subscription as a gift or something.
Just thought that I would let you guys know, wich you probably do already... I'm usually the last to hear about these things...

Yeah, I wish it wasn't so expensive to order over here in the USA. I don't know the conversion, but it's about $79 pounds, or whatever you guys use. =P
Maybe I can find some torrents...~

After reading Android Jones' interview. I have come to the conclusion that he is clearly on some sort of neo drug that we don't know about. He's insane.
They asked him what hand he uses to draw with and he answered "the wrong one". What the hell is that about?

    I don't care, gimme whatever he's having :p

Read the tutorial in ImagineFX (bf's subscribed) and I loved the ideas in his technique. Just gave me a different outlook towards more boring stuff like a girl in profile.

Actually as a designer it's really good practice to draw with your non dominant hand (if thats what he's talking about and not just being a smart ass) You can come up with shapes that are different than what you would normally draw since your "stroke" (tee hee) is different with that hand. I feel like I read somewhere that he was at one point attempting to draw with both hands simultaineously, and that it was like his brain was trying to pull itself apart. Having said all that I haven't read that particular interview, but I might run out to B&N later to see if they have a copy.

I checked it out too when I was in the bookstore, really fantastic spread but I didn't have the bread at the time either- I am going to go back and get it though I think-

I recently got a hold of the animated short F8 which Android did the concepts for- in the extras section of the DVD is an interview with him which is really cool- worth checking out just for that imo.

Yeah if he isn't just messing around, he may have ment drawing with the wrong hand, as drawing with his left hand...thats if he is right handed Cause if you draw with you left hand supposively your suppose to be more creative, according to betty edwards...

Judging from his work my guess would be DMT.

interesting stuff that DMT. The who's, how's, and what's aside Mr. Jones' work is definatly uniquely psychedelic (most of it anyway)...and my guess, based on experience and my discussions around here, other forums, and my own coffe table is that it is more likely that he gains inspiration from such experiences rather than attempts to do any work while actually "under the influence" DMT especially, to dissassociative. You would be lucky to be able to remember what a Wacom tablet is for the 10 minute journey. Its much better thing to just enjoy the experience, and reflect upon it later. Although I do recall reading an interview with Giger and he mentioned that he liked the airbrush since its ease of use better enabled him to work while under the influence of "mind altering substances."

...sorry can't resist posts regarding psychedelia...like a moth to the flame

I'm hoping that's for a years subscription, because that would be close to $200 Aussie dollars and $150 US.
