Salvage the boobs, always salvage boobs, they are worth salvaging...

p.s I think you just need to be more certain of the design before starting colour/ rendering too much... also love the neck and those baggy pants though. =)

    Hows tricks?

Those speedy figures are pretty sweet, I never felt like I could get a grip on digital gestures, physical either come to think of it... but they hold up solid even with the crotches missing. Sweet!

Okay, Started this as just a water speedpaint. It's been overcast alot so I decided to do something gray-ish. Doing something grayish makes color harmonizing 10000x easier, so I can focus more on other stuff, which is good! =)

    Anyways, I was looking through random marine reference to define the architectural style this region would have. After a few hours of searching, I went back to one of the first, and consequently, most inspiring images I found while looking. This is a 'Cleat", used to fasten thick ropes to the boat for stability against a dock or other boats, etc. I saw it and instantly thought it would look great as a building. I manipulated the photo to see if it would work, and it turned out perfect, so I took the manip out, brought out the brush and really pushed the shape to make something with the same design, but with more interest. I'm still playing with the depth and perspective, but I've figured out their purpose;
An aesthetically pleasing public recreation area that harbors personal watercraft, as well as having several turbines to collect hydropower from the powerful tide, and in the top is a (or many) windmills to harvest the fickle seabreeze and turn that into power. The setting is not definite, but I am becoming attached to the idea of these little guys myself. I'll probably try to find other ways to connect them to the sea, shouldn't be too tough! =)

keep the head on the steampunky/mid-evil-y knight chick!!! it was working!!! I think what is killing it is the white background, everything else works just fine!

edit: mighty fine i must admit, excellent gesture, lots of energy in what could easily be a static pose...

    Thanks guys.

I feel bad constantly updating this 2 or 3 times a day, but the changes are usually fairly drastic enough I think it warrants a new post. I might put this up in the Critique Center soon before I get stuck on it.

EDIT: There a square lights on the ground and round lights on the ceilings. Now I need to figure out how to make it work right =P

Also, since this post I've darkened the light spot of this nearest pier, realizing the sky couldn't in any way be so bright. But I don't have it on this comp so.. tough beans

Nice speculage. The right side of the building has me a bit thrown though, is it curved is it flat? Are those lights round on the body but casting square light? Nice color choices though.

Couldn't get the shape to read right, so I changed it. (I haven't put the supports up.. no it won't be floating and no those aren't thrusters)

Also, 2 live paintings from tonight!

well done! wow, i absolutely love that hamoc peice. you really set the atmosphere and you totally conveyed "relaxation" or "leisure" in this peice. it would be nice if you fully rendered it. i suggest you make that one finished. never stop!

Enviros are looking good, think about what Mr.Blonde (or was it M@?) talked to you a while ago, if you boldly paint something over something else, it is going to look as if it is infront of it... so if you boldly paint sky over a tree, it is going to look as if the sky is infront of the tree... which looks really fucked up!

    also:

It is good to see you not being afraid to scrap things/trying to solve the problems though... I guess

This will be one of the few things I won't directly ask for critique on; It's not meant to be a pretty picture or a finished piece, or to follow any rules. I simply wanted to relax and just play around to see what would happen. I think exploring more like this will help me develop a better approach to art I actually have to "work" on. It isn't that I don't think I need help, more that I want to see what will become of it when I make my own decisions (I've recently come to realize that decision making is not my strong point.)

EDIT: Added life painting from this morning.. had to cut it short so I can get to work on time :X

Nice colors on the newest piece. I like your studies in the recent days - the brush strokes feel very fun and care-free, and the colors are lively. Keep up the good work
