... and they say fat is ugly! (...alas it's a hoax)

Madrid fashion week, one of Spain's most prestigious shows, is banning underweight models on the basis of their body mass index (BMI).
That would be below BMI 18.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/5341202.stm

You haven't seen grotesque till you've seen this.

Too much for words. I can't wait to see what these people look like when they hit their late 40s. Major future health problems galore.

This one, however, isn't doctored. It's a Reuters photo from this past Saturday's shows in Paris.

They're fake in that these models aren't that skinny, however, most of the bodies in the photos are taken from actual photos of anorexics. There are certainly some women (and some men) this skinny out there.

It will pass. With the increasing abyss between poor and rich, being chubby will be IN some years in the future.

What I find kind of amusing is that even designers tend to stick with their own rules, especially Karl Lagerfeld.

    After

No matter how ignorant, this man is such a cool bastard. They say he lost weight by sniffing bread-flavoured cloths. Nice alternative to Cocaine.

Supposedly he wears those super high collars to hide the excess skin hanging from his double chin.

Although these were photoshopped, there áre girls that dó look like that!
I "knew" a girl (vaguely) who weighed about 30 kilos with a length of 170 cm (which means a BMI of 10,5 (yes that's very deadly. I'm still amazed she didn't die).. I think she's now taken into some anorexia clinic thing, but well, it does get that bad.
You know those pictures are all over pro-anorexia sites? I searched for those sites once, when one of my best friends got anorexia. It's really disgusting how those girls (sometimes boys) think this body image (even though it's photoshopped) is beautifull..

Ofcourse some of the big models like Kate Moss click are rather skinny too. And theres a really skinny girl in Hollands Next Topmodel too. I just feel they're sending out a wrong signal on what beauty is.

I think that the people of Madrid fashion week made a very good decision about this.

    Love

    Hahahah!

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic or not (Cause of that thing where a Reuters photographer- I think he was freelance, doctored a photo reallly really really badly.)

    Are you not paying attention?
These are about as real as the pics on those "nude celebraties" sites.

Some things are starting to change... I just heard on the news that weight laws are being passed for agencies to keep their models at a healthier doctor recommended weight.

waif-like models are being pushed off the catwalk.

...personally I think I love the chubby peoples more... A lot more to grab onto you know. I think people can go over board in both instances though... we should all strive to stay a healthy average weight.

Im like goldy locks I like em just right.
