    Updates

I have been somewhat lazying around and procrastinating for the past month or so, Actually this is more like an ideation stage, where I am coming up with ideas for probable future projects. I am also trying to figure out where I am heading in the painting department. Just because I have a vague peculiar style doesnt mean I should get stuck in it.Have to Try to push and dare myself more.
There are couple things that need to be taken care of, firstly I am thinking of starting a tutorial blog with articles on art and such, including interviews and guest tutorials from my friends and esteemed artists that i have the honor to know. Liek I said, its still the ideating stage so I would really be glad to get some directions and help in the matter.

Still to hear from the publishers I contacted regarding my comic. In the meantime, have started working/writing another story. Lets see.

Nice work again man! The comic looks very lively and atmospheric. Although the stories are probably very different, the images of GRAFITEE remind me of certain parts of "Voyage au bout de la nuit" (Journey to the End of the Night) by Louis-Ferdinand Céline, one of all time favorite books, I really recommend it.

Also, the paintings in #938 remind me of a really weird nightmare I once had. I've thought about how this nightmare would look translated to an image, but the atmosphere in it was so weird, it's really hard to imagine it in an actual physical painting. Somehow you came very close to that atmosphere as I recall it.

    Anyway, keep it up.

Coen- Thanks man, I will try to look up the comic you mentioned, has it been translated to English? I like seeing atmosphere in comic, generally any storytelling in any medium, thats why I prefer french comics and stuff, also stuff by kent williams, DAve Mckean and them guys.
Man, It sounds good that I can paint nightmare, that I painted your nightmare hehe, I hope that wont scare you away from my thread

    Thanks

kojot- Thanks man, actually acrylics seem easy to work with and play around, but since summers are around, they are drying way too quicker for comfort. But thats the fun element too, isnt it?

    ANyways new update

    Together again
12*12 inches, Acrylic on canvas board

I have been having problems with a big painting I am working on, theres too much second guessing about everything from pose to lighting to composition, so these recent small ones are a nice relief.

    Anyhoo, Enjoy!

Oops I wasn't very clear, the book I mentioned is not a comic but a novel (there is a nice illustrated version of it though). I haven't read many comics but images pop up in my mind when reading novels too, and your comic really reminded me of some passages of the book, I might start reading it again now!

    Cool update by the way.

    holyfuckwow, look at you go!
every single time I come here I am impressed... not just by where you are but by how far you have gone to get there.
Specifically like how you've approached digital rendering, you've not forgotten the lessons you learnt with acrylics.

    http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1271589980

    ^ Particularly impressive.
I have an idea for you. You works are unsettling, disturbing, subversive. This is part of what makes them good.
Visually, one finds "safety" in patterns. There are very few patterns in your work, and the ones that there are are not really obvious. Maybe - and this is just an idea - use patterns to make this shit even more unsettling and demanding of attention. Attention will go where the pattern is broken. Sort of like the contrast between visual order and the chaos that subverts it. Maybe just something to play around with - I'm kinda coming from another level and I have no idea how to practically translate this into your work...

five star stuff brother. Just look at you go>

GRAFITEE is awesome really great mood in the panels to match the writing and I'm in love with your blue pen drawings. I never ask people particularly to check my stuff out, but it would mean a lot to me if you dropped a critique on my figures.

Brendan - Hah, thanks a lot for the love. yknow, intially I was psyched how I could emulate(or painter emulate for me) the real acrylics, but then It just didnt feel right, I dont emulate acrylics when I work in watercolors, or oils so why here. So I have been doing stuff(most not good enough to show) to see what I can bring out from the digital medium, I think what I did with the poster for my recent exhibition was one such piece.
Thanks for liking the faetal piece.I think its in a way stronger that it does break a pattern of active tension( the image has a more unified design) thats seen in my works. Like you mentioned about breaking a pattern to create more power in the image.
Lets see how I work more on it. btw I am taking pointers from your works for my own approach to digis, your works are indeed refreshing.
    Thanks Brother.

RyanK- Thanks, I wish the publishers feel the same way as you about my comic, been having a hard time fishing it to them. Lets see. Thanks for coming and it was fun coming over at your SB too, you are good getting better. Awesome

LAL-Yknow, LAL means red in my language, sweet. Thanks a lot!
Yeah so you found out i am a fiend heheheh. Just kidding.

ArtConsultant- Its gonna get a whole lot darker, stay tuned.

like how the legs have been cut off. Needs some subtler colours - perhaps try taking one of your acrylics and layering it over your digis in a "soft light" or "colour" mode and tweak the opacity. Then expand on the subtle colour variations it produces - I use this a lot and it usually works rather well. Would have liked to see the linework in a complementary colour, a golden orange or a even a pale green.

Cool work brother, looking forward to more! >

man i really like these two figures from mid april- definitely a great fleshiness to them! I think when you have those warm shadows, it can work really nicely with the cool white flesh in the light.

Okay twice while have been replying to the posts, my browser crashed, its a bit irritating since i wrote quite a bit. hmmm.

    Thanks for the replie guys,

Verhin- Thanks it means a lot to hear a compliment from you

Brenman- I think I need to rely more on basic reasoning as well, I just go too much with my gut instinct. I guess now that I look at it subtle colors anc color overlay would have made the image much smooth and harmonious.
Then expand on the subtle colour variations it produces
I didnt quite get this, I am still a digital noob, help me brotha!
    Hah, thanks anyways brother

Jorge Gecov- Thanks, I say the same to your works, which are pretty sweet indeed.

Rodrigo- I dont use warm shadows much, but yes seeing with the types of skintones I use makes me feel that they are better placed than my usual neutral/cool shadows, I guess I am a bit slow with it comes to learn colors and tones. Thanks for liking though brother!

Been upto some work lately, Didnt do any landscapes while I was in the countryside, but did some illustration, will show one that I liked myself.

Good work lately, i like this last one, keep experimenting with digitals too.

I am not sure about the comic. The art itself is great but the lettering is ugly; and as a whole, the pages looks chaotic in the wrong way. So you actually don't want to read it, just skip through.
And this may be my problem, but I don't get what is it about. Is it a finished story? There's a guy who is an unsuccesful painter, he turns into graffiti..what's about it? And what's with that murder and his brother who is a graffiti artist too? Have somebody actually understood it?

    Thanks Martin,
I do agree with you on the crit about the comic, its a hard one to read, so no matter how well painted it is, it still fails a bit, I did try to clear up in the last few pages of comic, and I hope to keep it like that too, I dont want to divulge much about the story right now, but I would say that his brother isnt a grafitti artist, hes just an annoying elder brother.

    Thanks

HeY I found your name while skipping through the forums
Honestly, I have fallen for some of your stuff. I think the more you understand anatomy, you can play with it and proportion, and it just looks sooo good. In your older stuff it was all about lines and expressing, your technique is developing a lot with it. I love the color, the movement, the feeling. I like how you explore it with different mediums too. I hope you explore it even more, Imona keep an eye on youu ))
