That last creature/character is awesome man, love the colors and design. I like that you tried out a traditional approach with digital medium.

Thanks for the support guys! I'm really stoked that you all are digging the new work. Just makes me want to paint more and more, when people get what I'm doing. Here's another:

I wasn't able to pull off what I was going for in the amount of time I gave myself. I wanted the grapes to feel really satiny and pure white... but... ya do what ya can. Right now they just look like really pale grapes...

I'd love some suggestions, or anything to help me get this right next time.

Eh they do have a satin feel to them. You did the peach-fuzz rim-light that's so characteristic of satin.

Hmm I dunno what to suggested :X

Either way its a change for you, and it looks very beautiful.

I honestly like the feel on the grapes, but I think it gets a bit bland when the hand kinda has the same feel to it, try pushing the values of the hand a tad and perhaps the branches in the background. But thats pretty much all I can say, really digging it though!^^

Awesome. Thanks for the suggestion. I was going for a really high key painting so the darks are SUPER limited. That always makes it a tough sell when rendering materials... LOL Thanks again.

hmm... it might be the branches...
your branches are the same color of the grapes themselves, which leads a person to believe you're doing an artistic representation of grapes, not that you're trying to paint white grapes. i mean, if you've established a world where colors are not exactly what they should be, you start making assumptions.
maybe if you change the color of the branches to what would be considered more "normal", people would .....bah, you get what im saying?

    just a thought...

    ah!
i just saw you worked on god of war! my buddy danny worked with you guys for a short period of time awhile back. he didn't know maya to save his life and kind of struggled trying to wrap his brain around it, ended up going to id software for awhile...
anyway, i think you're right down the street from where i work, sometimes we go over to that mtv cafeteria (i think its mtv) right next door to you guys for lunch.

well i gotta get back to work
PM me, i've always wanted to do concept art for a living and i plan on leaving my current job in about a week. maybe for the first time in my life i'll actually persue a career doing illustration... i'll have to put together a new portfolio... damn... well, its a thought.
you guys have a need for motion graphics artists?

I live in Van Nuys, but I work in Santa Monica, right next to MTV, right. I remember Danny, though I didn't see him when I visited ID. Nice guy. I've never seen anyone let go like that before, was strange, it's a shame he didn't stick it out.

I love sketching, AND beer. I don't have any sketch group buddies, so, I tend to just draw on my onsies.

My Opacity and flow are at 100%, and I set them to pen pressure for both.

    Ask and ye shall receive:

A couple magic cards from the six so far published for the Shadowmoor set. I'm really new to the format they have, so it's not my best, and it's over a year old... but... here's some recently published goodies! (Remember they're printed at like two inches square)

your works are beautifully expressive, every time I see these paintings I see strong visual compliments that were deliberately placed within each composition.

    Keep it up, dude.

Little pale sperm grape is trying to come to fruition. Your latest artwork is like running your finger along a droplet of Jupiter while dangling cherries over a courtyard of female sex organs. In other words, it's bliss.

wow i love your work. my favorite one is the girl with the tattoo on her arm. the picture of her is simply beautiful, there is a sense of mystery and i love the composition and pose of her body. its sexy and its amazing how it was all out of your head. i also really like the character that has no legs. great job you are an amazing artist and i cant wait to see more of your work.
