Christoffer - Thanks mate, I´ll popp into you SB as soon as I can. And download Al.chemy at least. Brilliant program for fast sketching!
March 16th, 2009 #364
I love to see progression in the bigger personal SB threads and you seem to be doing just fine. I really like your use of Sketchup and Alchemy. I have messed around with both programs but now I feel inspired to actually create. I would certainly like to see you experiment with colour more.
Keep at it.

duude you've been busy. The master study, the fruit, and the landscape study really looked like excellent studies!
the alchemy monstarz have definately improved, but you don't wanna forget how to draw a 3/4 or profile right?
get 'e pencils burrrrrrrning the page
March 17th, 2009 #367
Munin Raven : weeeel, here is a little more color. Still feel my values and lines lack knowledge, but I guess that will come.
Pigeonkill : Thank you!
TheGnoll : Master Study has to wait. I want to spend a lot ore time on it! But yeah I have been slacking! DAMN! Back too it!
March 17th, 2009 #368

Wow nice sketchbook man.
I must say I am intrigued by all this alchemy stuff, I have just downloaded it!
I think taking the sketches and doing values studies is an awesome idea and I am going to have to try it out!
Also, I think those grapes rule lol

Quick study from life. Such hard lighting on this one. I´m blaming the suckyness on that
Didn´t render it as much as I wanted, but have to do some schoolwork. More to come soon I hope

Dile_ : thanks man!
rambolin : Yeah, but this isn't real skin Its a statue, and therefore different material which doesn't have such strong highlights
Just 2 studies, bleh.
A sketch from ref (FW figure)
And no ref for the values which I started a while ago. Got lots more to do. Planing on really working on this one. we´ll see if I go through with it....
aaand a few scans. more to come
April 7th, 2009 #381
can't say anything about the studies, except kudos for actually doing them hehe
on your anatomy/bridgman studies my only suggestion in that you see to be focusing on copying what bridgman did regarding lines and hatching, if i were you i'd even make em dirtier, but complete them and really try and get a sense of "shape" in there, you don't wanna draw how bridgman drew that hand, you wanna draw what Bridgman drew, so imho push more the feeling of construction in those hands, drawing "thru" the form...i guess i haven't been very clear :/
about the non ref gasmasked soldier, excellent work for now!
be sure you get the undernear construction nailed down before moving on, and whenever in doubt about existing objects, look for ref, look what a real boot looks like, pose yourself like the character you're drawing, do researche and use props if necessary! in this case, go look what a real gun looks like, maybe even an existing WW1 gun and modify it slightly, same thing for the boots and clothes (i woudn't open his coat towards the bottom, make the fabric fall down (obviously, constructing whatever is underneat anyway )
no big experience on digital stuff but hey, just my 2 cents
keep 'em coming!!
April 15th, 2009 #382
TheGnoll : Dude, first off I would like to thank you. Your support really means a lot to me! And i totally get what you are saying about the anatomy studies! Gotta get my head straight on those. Thanks!
And about the soldier. I´ve already found some good refs og coat buttons and such, so we will see how it turnes out.. Also going to put down the coat as suggested!
Small small small update. Exams closing in now. Trying not to stress about it, seeing that doesn´t help at all. But still sketching here and there, trying to get it in every day. So scans will come eventually. Not only this:
oh btw... Seems like I am getting drafted in the army. Not necessarily a bad thing if you ask me, but kinda flipped me upside down and took me off guard. Dunno what the future hold for me at the moment... Only know that I really want to go to the European workshop! aaaagh. I have to keep my head up high. Either way life is great!
April 17th, 2009 #383
Awww, cute panda in post 382
I second what TheGnoll mentioned about drawing the underlying structure istead of copying. I think it's very important in order to learn in the most efficient way. This is also something I need to work on a lot more.
Big improvement lately, but I miss pencil drawings. I don't know if you do them so much, but I think it will improve your art even more. Draw on every paper you see ok? Piemonster is a classic example of how much you can improve in a short time if you work your pencils and consistency.
I like the last one very much. The first thing I thought when I saw it was "Android rip-off" but after looking at it some more, I realized that you managed to create kind of your own style as well. -Veldig bra gjennomført.
Keep it up!

It seems a bit muted. Don't be afraid to mix some purples into that black and dark browns.
Dang after seeing you youtube video makes me want to give Alchemy a try. Still digging for that cool mirroring option you using?

good luck with all your exams man, and lets see how the army thing goes, would be cool to meet you too at the euro WS tho
beign in the army certainly didn't stop chuck, mate from drawing anyway!
you're doing good man, as you said, just keep your head up high and stay focused!
May 10th, 2009 #387
nice banana! and the alchemy pieces are really producing some interesting characters I think i'm liking the more simple versions, they really create some interesting shapes, the sketchier versions are cool to but just seem less interesting to me.

hey dude, hows it going?
man, try to avoid the army! you know what it is? a creative-killing-machine!!! seriously. my cousin went through that shit and I saw him, being an artsy loving person turn into sombody totally different. not necessarily into something bad, but still……I fear that you might somehow loose interest or whatever I know. dont get me wrong, I can be completely wrong, but……I am concerned…thats all btw, I like that last piece. it def more than just an android inspired piece.
anyway, I hope to see you at the workshop if possible
May 27th, 2009 #389
Ok guys. I'm sorry to say this post will not contain any art... so read if you like, or just don't.
Been really busy at school lately. Even busier than busy being the last year and all. Still got one more exam two weeks so we shall see how that goes.
Anyways. I've also been really sick this last week, not that it matters, cause I have been slacking major. I am totally content on becoming an artist. No doubt about it, and I know I'll get there, but I've been thinking allot lately.
About my art. About the army I am not joining. About an art school that let me in, illustration for those who want to know. About money I need to pay the school. About me.
I have put the pencil and wacom-pen down for quite a while now. Actually I only started drawing again since yesterday. I needed a break to figure things out. About my art and what approach I want to take. About where I want to end up. About style. Now I have made up my mind.
-or at least I think I have....
Like I said. I have started drawing again, just not full time yet, because I have to focus on school at the moment. But 20th of June is the day. The day School finishes and I am going to bust my balls day in and day out. I will be working a lot of part time jobs (for money obviously) and spend both nights and mornings on studies and art. It will for real be the beginning of my life. For the new direction toward life. Life as an artist.
I wish CA welcome to join me on the journey, for I will be posting here as often as possible. If all goes well, every day.
This is my goal. A goal I have to make. And a goal I will make.
and I am sorry to say that I will not be joining the Workshop this time. It was a really really really tough decision. I went back and forth several times, but I believe this verdict to be final. But mark my words. I will join one some day. At least one. Mark my words.... I gotta meat you people some time. You have inspired and helped me in so many ways. Just by leaving me comments of encouragement fills my heart with gratitude. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you
ps. I'll post some art as soon as possible
