    sketchin' it the lavhoes way

Man, I haven't had a sketchbook thread in ages. Not sure where my old one went to, but I don't think I could even bear to see what my work looked like back then, so it all works out.

Let's see if I can handle this new-fangled attachment manager thing.

    Some recent thumbnails:

And my three latest speedpainting for the past week or so:

    Attachment stuff for archiving:

    Oooh
I'm diggin those evil lookin fellaz at the top.
Your landscapes are a little 'muddy' though, I mean, unless they're WIPs I think you should tighten them up a lilbit. Shapes and stuff need more definition, I mean.

    Keep art'n!
As the pattern gets more intricate and subtle being swept along is no longer enough.

Man, haven't updated in a while!*

*a while apparently being over a year, yeesh

I've been doing a lot of sketching in the meantime, but it's all been in moleskines, and I'm horrible about being able to set aside time to scan everything in. But hey, I also do a lot of Photoshop stuff too, so when I do I'll post it here!

    Here's some recent-ish stuff:

    And tonight's sketches:

Thanks, Towarlock! I tend to sketch (a helluva lot) in pen only, so having that as a restriction means when I finally get a chance to lay in some super-light eraseable lines I can really throw in some detail and bust out some decent sketches.

That said, another day, another set of sketches:

    Plus a couple speedies:

I really like your landscapes, there is so much detail in them. The first one of the last post you added is my favorite. Keep up the good work!

I love your color feel. There's a really nice intricate play between your values and colors that creates great intensity and makes it very surreal. Just fantastic!

How's life down in the big easy, old friend? damn, glad i clicked on ca this morning to see yr new book at the top of the SB section rat race

Georgia's been fuckin crazy this spring ... literally the weather changes drastically everyday ... walking around downtown Atlanta with 50mph winds yesterday was a little surreal ... gale force death-gusts trying to blow my honky ass off of the sidewalk and into traffic ... Then i get back home last night at 8:30 (to my very ghetto neighborhood) and the electricity in my grid is totally out ... felt like the beginning of the end of the world or something ... scary but in a cool way ... i lit some candles and drew like mad for a few hours, image refs from my iPhone.

the new art looks great... but this one has been on yr site for ages, goof. BTW, Oh what a pretty cute Faerie!!! haha... had to say that. you still doing the tiny moleskines? got any pictures of louisiana? fending off the gators?

well i'ma subscribe to this thread so i can stay current on all things lavhoes...glad to see u started a SB. Holla if you are gonna be in ga.
