Nice studies, your character design is quite difficult to see as some of the sketches are quite small.

Particularly like the tightened-up skull study

Hey gigglepixie, thanks for commenting =). I was pretty pleased with the skull study too, I just hope it sinks into my mind for some future ref heh.

I made those character studies really small in my sb, I'll try and update with some that are bigger and more refined soon, hopefully try my hand at colouring them. I'll be sure to check out your thread once I'm finished scanning my life drawing. (A3 on an A4 scanner :E). jason

    Nice

Excellent Studies.. very nice work, are you doing all that on your own or do you have some sort of anatomy class. I am in an anatomy class for school and it is definetly helping my drawings. Keep it up!!

Thanks a lot weggebrecht. I'm just doing these on my own from various anatomy books I own or have borrowed. Your class sounds awesome! What do you cover in it?

Oh btw, Finished scanning some life drawing, heres one. I'll post the rest when I have done splicing them together.

I'm so pissed, I don't think my drawing class is doing any fgure work this year. Even when we did, it was never nude. Stupid uptight canadians

I don't really see anything you need to work on, it all looks pretty good to me.... maybe some wacky poses out of your head to see what you can come up with?

I like the composition of the chow picture, if you cut off the right side a little.
I love the skull studies,. they are very fine and accurate.

Hey SSG friends, ta for posting.. hehe, be overly critical though! I need it =)
Small things add up. I'll post some stuff from my head now actually, as you can see, its not so good, but still only quick stuff for now.

BTW. The life drawing is at a Adult Education College here in the UK, costs a lot, but its worth it. Really fun too, if you can splash out, go for it. I couldn'nt speak high enough for its worth. =D

This is some pretty good stuff. I do think that the non-life drawing stuff seems a bit rigid, there just isn't the nice flow that would really "wake-up" the drawing. That life study stuff is really good though. I think you should do some more contour drawings, get a really nice line going. Well done overall sir.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

masterpug: Your right, I find it hard to simplify my own work down to basic shapes and work it back up in my mind. Its something I'm working on at very hard at the moment.
Care to explain what you mean exactly by contour drawings? I assume you mean working on improving line quality and emphasis, instead of being too sketchy and random.

Anyway, here is todays picture.. inspired and minorly reffed from hawkprey's UT work. Was fun working out his silhouettes and seeing how powerful they can be.

Jens & OleOleson: Cheers for the motivation and help.

Cordy: Yeah you're right, that would really help my stroke economy. I have to force myself to do that lol. Thanks for the tip. =]

Heres what I'm currently working on. Just trying to get a handle of PS. I really wanna make this into a greyscale image that I could work over in colour, but I want to get the design and proportion nice first. Crits?

Okay, caught sight of the thunderdome 100 gestures thread and thought I'd blitz it in one day.
Was pretty fun, gained some confidence through this.
Its reassuring to have done so much drawing I guess.
Well, here they are.. all 111. (I think)..
    Ref used mostly =)

I like dem gestures. Its good to see the life drawing, you will improve much doing that. I notice some scratchy lines, try doing some contour drawings without lifting your pencil, or better yet, do them in pen. It will increase your confidence a lot! Keep drawing~
