    Concept character from story

    Hello,
Here is a concept character I made recently. I didn't intend for this to even look remotely finished but it turned out decent enough for me to post.

    Comments and crits are welcome.

Well, I am going to keep this critique really short... not because I'm not interested in the picture... but because I need to get off CA.org!
Try to limit using soft brushes on so much of your picture. The picture becomes kind of bland and uninteresting when everything has the same fuzzy glow.
Also, try not to use white... or so much of it.
    Nice start though!

    Hey there.
I'm going to echo Johnnyhorse a bit, right now this guy looks a little mash-potato-y. Edges play a humongous role in a painting, stuff thats close to us, like the end of that cloak, even though its soft cloth is going to have a very defined edge of shadow/light. Things that are further from view will be softer.
Hard surfaces, like his bone crown thing, will also be hard edged. Keep in mind the type of surface and distance - varying them will give you a more believable picture.

and better get some reference for the trappery (did I spell that right? I mean the fabric)

As well as all comments previously posted, the deep crater that is his tricep is a little distracting. Might wanna tone that down a bit.

The close up reveals some nice things going on. Great face design.
