Red face Blizzard contest Entry : "Succeeding you, father"

    Hi everyone !

Here's my first full illustration, made for the blizzard contest art (I begin my first year in an art school)
This scene is drawn from one of the Warcraft3 cinematics, where Arthas kills his father.
Let me know what you think, please
(I'll put the different steps, if someone is interested. Done with Photoshop)

its all a little bit confusing. some areas - such as the little golden rods on the steps - are sharply in focus, whereas other areas - such as the steps and flesh - are quite blurry. this upsets the eye a little bit, and hurts the piece. probably a little too late to make such changes, but keep it in mind next time. nice concept, geat poses, keep em coming!

So when you say to let you know what I think, do you mean crits? Nice render man, looks like it took a while to do. For contests of this sort, I'm pretty sure they want original ideas, just a heads up. Also, if you're just starting school, some color theory would really help you out. The lack of color depth makes it a bit flat looking. Also watch your perspective in the architecture/bricks. Not bad for a first illo though, way better than my first.

The faces could use a little work along with Arthas' hair, the scene seems a little brighter than what I remember in the cinematic but thats not a huge deal since I don't remember, I really like the rendering on Arthas' armor and frostmourne but doesn't it have more frost effect around it? Also your rendering on Arthas is much more detail than everything else in the piece with the exceptions of a few things, pretty much what stoph said.

I have planned to draw something else, but this one took loooonger than I expected.
Yes, I tried to hide my lack of experience by using the same colors of the cinematic...guess I failed mh ?
