algenpfleger- thanks dude! It would be awesome to see soem traditional paintings in your thread, looking forward to it!

seth- thanks! Gonna take a look on this guys suit again!

snobby- thanks man! I am from Rheinberg, quite a small town, near Duisburg/Oberhausen/Essen.

So here we go again. before I forget it again, here's the link to teh references I am using these days. The photos are veeery old and the high contrast screwes a lot of information especially in teh eye-regions, but the pictures are still evry useful to get to see some individual faces

you're a fucking machine! I think at the start you were doing your eyes in a sorta formulaic way. alot of the top eylid showing everytime the time, but in these latest ones it looks like you're observing the actual skin around the eye and drawing it. that site is awesome, amazing photos.
Keep up the good work dude.

archipelago- thanks dude! You're definitely right, I can really feel how I learn more and more stuff with each and everyone of those.

Hybrid_75- yeah that thing you observed is exactly the thing that i have changed. Instead of outlinig the eye and then rendering it, I am now trying (not only with the eyes but with everything I draw) to really "model" it out of the paper. I feel that this gives the drawing a MUCH more organic and realistic touch.

SnobbyOo- hehe cool, let' do that! Right now however things are a bit busy this days, got a new job yesterday, have to go to some abitur-related events and last but not least my zivildienst starts in two weeks. Just geive me a little time till things calm down a bit.

algenpfleger- thank you! hehe hopefully this update is a bit satisfactory for you

My back is killing me these days, gonna take a break today and tomorrow, and maybe visit a doc, that's not even funny any more. To complete todays update, heres one more little portrait, nothing mroe for today

dude! that sucks with your back. you gotta sit up straight in all situations! it's the first thing my drum teacher taught me, always watch for your health! go visit a doc as soon as possible, okay? there's no point in you destroying your body.

loving the girl though hope you're gonna be back with full force soon.

Sorry to hear about your back, you should get that fixed soon, chronic back-pain can make the rest of your life miserable. About the last updates, I wanted to tell you before how classy those are. I am really proud of you, not so long ago, all of your faces you didn't make from the full front turned out to be cyclopses. Now you have such a huge understanding of the human skull! And those latest studies really tackle the features and definitions of individuals. I can really see how you develop them further to facial expressions, lighting, and so forth. Awesome!

algenpflleger- hehe I am back taking a break one day was definitely what i needed. Well without having gone to the doc I can say now that is my sitting position thats killing me. The problem is that I am referencing some of the latest portraits directly from my monitor, having my sketchbook more or less lying on my lap and as I said these are pretty small so that i have to be reeeeally close when drawing the details......don't want to know how painful this must even look like . Now that I know that I can change my position end everything is fine.

faust- thank you dude, that really means a lot to me!!

So lets have some girls I have no Idea why and how....but this thread is getting really really oldschool right now, haha

fuckin´ hell, bro! your face studies are looking really good!
be careful when you´re drawing the iris/pupils tho, in some of the portraits, one of the iris/pupils are facing a slightly different angle.
keepitup, very solid improvement on your faces!

Honestly, those facesstilldon't look very feminine to me. The bone under the eyes (so much for anatomy-studies,lol, well I don't have to memorize namesanyway), it is higher than a man's, also the forehead has a different angle. I can understand when the ref looked that way (We all know women all had beards in the 19 century didn't they?), but I think right now it is more important to get a standard-beauty-baby-scheme inside your head so you can work from that. You can always draw dominas later

I like these a lot. I love the lines and shading. It reminds me of Wesley Burt a little.

Whoa, your portraits are really good, tho some of them are a bit androgynous (not that it's a bad thing!). The shading is beautiful Please keep us updated and hope your back is all happy now

mhmmm....so you're more into old guys.... ....hehe

Great improvement!!!! AND your studies are definitely paying off, the last ones are great......and I'm also in love with your avatar painting

The style discussion was really interesting to read, because i totally agree...i always thought, man i want to have a cool style right know.....but style developes with all techniques your trying out, and imo it is necassery to adapt and learn things from guys who are on a higher level, out of a good background you can develope things that works for you pretty well and than bring them to the next stage yourself.......tada ! -> your style............just my two cents.

    Keep em coming!!

    Cheers

    Andi

thank you guys, gonna reply later!!

Yepp, I am still alive and I'm working a lot.......I mean A LOT!! I don't have any time to take shots of the stuff I've been up to the last few weeks but i got a brand new digicam for my birthday so heres a testshot of one piece I've been working on these days.
I am going to do a lot mroe of this more or less "finished" drawings, since there are certain aspects in drawing that can be only learned by trying to get kinda "intense" and not by just stopping as soon as the basics are layed down on the paper.

unfortunately I won't be able to show up in here too often in the next weeks, since I spend all of my free time drawing and painting to get a more or less solid portfolio. if everything works as planed, I will be able to be here more often by december again.

So heres a tiny little bit for ya. No ref used.(light was kinda bad, so sorry for teh bad shot, the original looks better )
