Malakuko- thank you so much man! yeah, you see my plan was to start very dayrk and then slowly bring some light into that all. kinda like a more systematic approcach to discover what happens with the scenery with more and more light
Dominode- can't thank you enough man! words like these just keep feeding me with more and more enthusiasm!
Beelow- Pain? me? NEVAR!!
Locus- thank you man! and thanks a lot for the links! cool stuff!
Whew long time no update Don't worry though, I am working my ass off trying to get better in photoshop and I really don't wanna bother you and myself posting all the failed attempts in here
Uh btw. today I spend about 2 hours listening to motivation coach Anthony Robbins. AWESOME!!
haha actually it was kinda weird for me at first cause that entire atmosphere is so -what non-americans would call- "american" but seriously, the things that guy says are PURE motivation, inspiration, and if you do NOT feel that way after listening for more than two hours to him, just give the fuck up! (just kiddin)
Anyways, here's the link to the youtube playlist. enjoy!!
Soooooo one more. can't actually say too much to that one only that...well it's something different But huge huge fun. Learnt a TON from that one.
Good lord, things are so awesome right now. I love painting!!
sooooooo nothing to fancy to show today, just some small commision work I am currently working on.
Something different from what I usually would paint for myself but it was huge fun drawing these little portraits from my mind, kinda testing where I stand concerning non-refed-semi-realistc work
So here's the progress, gonna finish it today I believe
Some wonkieness in those pencils will be fixed in the painting process- promise!
I am not very good, but if I could offer a crit, I think every once in a while you miss a opportunity for overlaps and it flattens things out a bit, like the head on the lower right that has a tangent where the nose touches the outline instead of overlapping it.
I think this one http://attachments.conceptart.org/fo...1&d=1274985352 got flattened a little bit without the overlap of the bi-cep on the left And I think on thins one http://attachments.conceptart.org/fo...1&d=1274985368 the pecs werent pushed down far enough and overlap enough of the chest to show the foreshortening and has a similar kind of weird flattening effect.
Anyway it seams to be rare as just about everything is in perfect perspective, but I didnt think it would hurt to mention.
I absolutely love the mountain the texture is crazy good and the dof effect of the branches makes it even better and the creature isint bad either. keep it up.
I don't think I've ever popped in here before! Just glanced through the last 10 pages or so but dang this is good stuff! I really dig that snowy enviro a few pages back with the fire in the tree, good shit.
that anthony robbins link was badass! Like it alot.
Cant crit, much tho. Love your dark value paintings.
With the last few posts you seem to be so much more enthusiastic about your art, and about painting, so I was wondering: what did you change? Did you stumble upon some different approach ?
Because you sound like I feel when I nail smth just right in my art, but that doesnt happen too often for me lately...
Hope Im not digging too deep in the secrets to your success here lol
Could you post some of the next pencil pages in steps? I saw the stadiums of scibbling the form and some measuring lines, but I would also like to see the hatching / rendering in steps, if possible. Keep on posting pencil pages!
goodoldayz- thank you and yeah you will see more!!
Marlee. - haha thank you
Darkside- thanks mate !
surfandsnow- wow, man thanks so much for pointing all that out! Gonna think more bout that in the future!!
Metal Fingers- thanks
KingElvis- haha thanks man. Well yeah I think that it's right that I changed my attitude a bit, can't tell really why, to be honest. I think it's a bit like that:
Do you know how it is when somebody tells you "man, you have to believe that you can do anything. If you do so you WILL be able to achieve anything you want" and then you are like "yeah man you're right". After that you usually feel kinda pumped for a few days and then you get back to your "normal" attitude. This is because that nice words SOUND nice to you but you don't make them change you way deep down inside . Right now I can say with absolute certainty say that I have managed ti to ADOPT that kind of believe with each and every part of my body.
It might sound cheesy but I truly believe now that when I put down that constant effort I WILL become who I want to be, I will improve and reach my goals. And when you have that attitude, and if you draw and paint having that attitude all the time you will suddenly see that each and every mark you put down on the paper can be better than the mark you did before.
And then you beginn to just friggin bulldoze through every painting, every drawing, you get more and mroe pumped with every second you paint, you just get friggin CRAZY and if you believe that things just can't get more awesome they actually do get more awesome, and you feel like exploding cause the entire process is just a FUCKING BLAST!!
Right now I feel like that. I finally managed to do so and I can truly believe that this will never ever change because that believe I have comes from the inside, it's a part of me, a part that just can't go away from me.
haha what a rant, but yeah that's basically it. I am having a friggin blast with everything I do, while having the believe that I am gettin better and better and better doing so!
surus- Thank you so much yes gonna show some steps in the future. btw. thanks for putting me into your list. feels kinda strange but thanks nevertheless
Vritra- thanks so much!!
whow some time passed since the last update. haven't been lazy though, just taking a bit mroe time in order to be able to push myself beyond my limits. Feels great Just can't get enough of that shit
Just a few words to that new digital concept.
i was kinda thinking about all that concept design stuff a bit more, especially about creatures and how to design them. Of course it's clear that not every monster in a game can be deisgned like a uber Endboss, cause the entire game would just be completely overloeaded with "lasereyed-ninja-t-rex creatures". So I decided to dig a little deeper into the world of creatures that don't attract all the attention but have still to be designed well. I was thinking about final fantasy and all that fucking monsters that annoy the shit outta you just because you gotta fight them over and over again. Their design is not that attracting BUT they still are well designed and cool looking. So i wanted to tackle one kind of a creature like that, and damn, that was hard Have been fighting with the design for about as much time as the painting process took. definitely gonna work on that more
Not entirely finished yet, think I am gonna put one ore two more hours into it
Good lord, so much talk and so little art. So we have the creature, the 5 minute color study I did before it ( I like to work at my "more finished work" from my own studeis rather than from reference) and one little sketchbook guy
Haha, what IS that thing? Looking good man - your attitude is totally awesome, too! I love it, makes me want to get way crazy about art. There's a quote from Magic Man from a few years ago, I kind of feel like a stalker but I totally have it pinned to my wall :
"Complacency and apathy are the killers of ability, being lazy should never be part of any person's vocabulary, nothing is ever gained without great sacrifice, and anything gained without great sacrifice is probably not worth sacrificing for. Learn how to push yourself to the edge of madness, to the bounderies of perfection, learn to bleed for your art or anything else you feel strongly about. We only have one life to live, learn to live it passionately."
thanks for the insight! Now we know your secret lol In fact, I do know what youre talking about. Its amazing how much our own thoughts and believes effect our art. Ill pay much more attention to that in the future.
That spider design made smile. Id love to see how the anatomy of that thing is working. Wanna see it in action...thats what went thru my head as Im looking at it.
