I love this guy! Most people are bad at art in the same way as everyone else, but this guy is bad in such a completely unique way. You almost don't want him to get better because he might lose that.

    What an absurd character...

But i find denying him the critique he needs to be somewhat cruel.
Shouldn't we show him some mercy and tear him a new one?

I don't know, it could almost be perceived as its own art form... Not a very *cough* nice looking art form... But that's all in the eye of the beholder. This could be the very sympathy for "abstract art" that Flippy was looking for in his thread

    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=77237

But since OctoStash seems to be a much pleasanter person then Flippy.. I feel no need to rip his work apart...Since *cough* his work has already ripped him a new one anyways... Besides someone has already tried to convert him with a long crit post to become a realistic artist...

Perhaps we should push this particular artist into a more Abstract area of art? But I don't think his abstract technique is effective at the level it is at, at the moment.... So that leaves the question on what is... Good abstract art and what is bad... and how do you go about crit Abstract art.

    Debate anyone>?

It's not abstract yet per say, we could always point out better ways of simplifying the composition in order to compliment better storytelling, and just bring in whatever digital matte and manipulation techniques that he can also apply to the characters.

That'd compliment what he appears to be aiming for without pushing him into realistic illustration from the get go.
