    Wii Info Revealed

I hadn't seen a thread for this yet. Wii for $249 US on November 19th, one remote and Wii Sports packed in. I think everyone was hoping for cheaper but I'm ok with that price. Some of the videos of the interface look like a lot of fun. Especially the "Mii" avatar you can create and store in the remote to carry to friend's houses.

    For the official breakdown:

For some videos of the interface:

    Released December 8th in UK/Europe for £179 / €249
(19 days after US release, 6 days after Japan, 1 day after Australia)

In the box you get a white Wii console, Wii Sports (Wii Tennis, Wii Golf, Wii Baseball, Wii Billiards, Wii Boxing) 1 wireless Wii remote, 1 Nunchuck controller, console stand, sensor bar, sensor bar stand (not sure what this is), A/V cable (composite not component) and 2 AA batteries (for wireless Wii remote).
Also comes with free "basic" Opera browser for internet. Not sure if it's built in already or if there's a cd to install it.

Check out http://wii.nintendo.co.uk for more information

    Peace

No, I would have to pay for shipping and tax and buy a step up converter so it works and all my games would have to be US.
It's only 19 days after the US launch. I can wait till then...

    $250 is a fair price.

It comes with a lot of multimedia features, wifi, WiConnect, and the MiiChannel for free. It also comes with Wii Sports. For a little extra you can purchase the Opera web browser. It's only a one-time purchase so you don't have to make monthly payments on it. I'm glad that is optional, as I have a PC which is much easier for web browsing anyway so I can opt out to not purchasing Opera. At least it's not bundled and I have no choice about it.

The Wii-mote (which is wireless) is $60 bucks ($40 wiimote + $20 nunchuku). Tad bit expensive, no doubt. But the Xbox360 controllers are $50 bucks for the wireless.

The Xbox360 is $299 (for the core with no memory or game), and $399 for the upgrade (with no game). The games cost $60 bucks. The Wii games will not cross the $50 dollar line.

The PS3 is $499 for the core, $599 for the upgrade (game not included), plus you have to purchase a specific S-Cable seperately ($40 bucks).

Even back when the Playstation 1 and Sega Saturn came out, the prices were $350-$400 bucks, and the Super Nintendo was $250 (1990's currency which would be nearly $300 if released today). SNES games ranged up to $80 for Final Fantasy 3 and Street Fighter 2. Even Sega Genesis games were expensive. $79 for Phantasy Star 2. $99 for Phantasy Star 4.

The Wii's Virtual Console allows you to download SNES/Sega Gensis-era games for $8 bucks each, NES games for $5, and N64 games for $10 . Killer deal in my opinion, as many of those old school games are rare. I just spent $5 getting a large latte. $8 for a 3 entre lunch at Panda Express.

You can only find them on ebay or mom-and-pop stores who raise the price on their rarity and condition (and by now, their battery back-up has died and won't allow you to save games). Most game stores don't carry previous generation games (go to EBX, Best Buy, etc... and try to find a Sega Genesis game). Even the ones who do sell used PS1 games, you'll rarely find anything you actually want, and about a zillion copies of Madden '94. In addition, buying games for the Virtual Console is totally voluntary, so if you think $8 bucks for Secret of Mana or Super Metroid is a rip-off, simply don't buy it. But me? I'll gladly put down $10 for Bond 007 and play that sucker using the Wii-Mote.

    I'm all about the Wii.

But, but... It doesn't have hi defunishun graphix, therefor I think it's only fair that it cost the price of a DS.

Yes $250 is a fair price. Shame I am not paying that

£180 is not a massmarket price to non gamers regardless of how awesome the console is.

OMG, just bought a snazy new 26" widescreen LCD tv to replace my old fat tube. Woo all I need now is a nice tv table from Ikea and I'm set!!

    Oh, and check these out
These should come in handy for the Wii remote (it used 2 AA batteries)
