    4 illustrations

    Hey everyone
Here's a few new-ish illustrations. The top one was originally a small interior illustration that I kept having the itch to expand upon. I've been picking at it every so often for a while now. The other 3 are speedier illos.

awesome, I really like that first one particularly. I think the fire may be a little too defined and shaped, but looks great all the same.

hmm, or perhaps it's not bright enough for the light it's casting. That may be it.

    drawing 1: WOW!
    drawing 2: WOW!
    drawing 3: WOW!
    drawing 4: WOW!

I really like the fire blade on the first one, the second is a very cool monster, the third also rocks (it reminds me of the movie dragonheart, I LOVE it!) and the last creature also rocks, some kind of a fox/eagle/snake... you got skills!

Great to see more new stuff from you, Eric. Your images are always a pleasure to find in the Wizards books. I agree with Daves assesment of the brightness of the sword being out of touch with the illumination on his face. However, I think that if you were to bring it up to the real value needed, it may become the unintended focus of the picture, just due to contrast.

I did notice the figure in the first one looks slightly off balance. I think I would have preferred to have his weight fully on his hand given how far he's leaning over. He seems a very strong character, very confident, which is a little at odds with the sense that he's off balance and might fall from that height.

    Rock on.

Image 1- The tower looks great and the rest of it looks pretty good too, but there's something odd happening with his left leg. His foot seems to be almost right under his knee, but unless he has sasquatch feet or short hobbit shins, that doesn't seem possible.
Image 2- Awesome creature design! Perhaps a little too much atmospheric perspective though, but awesome just the same!
Image 3- There's some nice poses and movements going on here, and the dragon design has that muscular, almost cat-like look that I love. The transition from the wings to the tail spines could be made clearer, though.
Image 4- Another great creature design! I love the feathery scales on its tail. Nice foliage, too. Can't find any nitpicks here.

All in all, awesome work. You have great talent!

Edit: I just looked at your website, and saw that you did that "Beast Wrangling" painting! That was one of my favorite paintings in Spectrum 11 (or whatever issue it was in)! Your "Forest Wings" have one of the best creature designs I've seen in a while.

    eric,
    nice stuff man!
i love the first one, but agree with dave P that the fire on the sword is too graphic looking and is looking abstracted compared to the rest.
lighting from it looks fine to me, i just think the shapes are too stylized for this image.

the rest are nice too, but i tend to like the full illos over character designs.

pm me if you have time.
would love to chat again soon.

DavePalumbo: Hey Dave. Thanks for the comments. I'm with you on the fire. I'll have to experiment a bit with it. Nice meeting you last night.

ramonsk8: Thank you very much ramonsk8!

fukifino: Hey man. I've been uncomfortable with the foot as well. I'll shoot a reference for it and give it another go. I think I need to step away from it for a few days first.

Moai: Thanks so much! Yeah I'm onboard with everyone's comments on the foot placement. Bad drawing..... uhhh. I knew I should have worked harder to get it to feel right, but I moved on. Bad. I will.

    mwillustration: Thanks Mike. Will do.

    dkounios: Hey thank you.

AmishCommy: Nice to meet you as well. I'll probably make it down again next week. Talk to you then.

Eric Gerhard: Thanks so much Eric!

MIKECORRIERO: Hey. Yup I definately need to revisit the stance. I spent too much time on the environment. Thanks a lot Mike.
