Smells nice with pencil shavings right? I don't know what you need. What could you want me to say. I am posting because you are obviously seeking attention, but I am only posting so that I can receive attention. What could a lowly loser like me offer you as insight.

Well forget about that. Maybe we can start over and deal with problems. The problem is that your artwork doesn't overly appeal to me, and yet I cannot really find fault with it. So what should I say?

Art is something you do because you get paid for it. Or is it something to do because you enjoy it? Why bother at all if neither is applicable. Am I going to ruin my voice, shouting at you? Why would I do that. All I know is that you need to find more inspiration, feel your spirit burning through. Show me your guts, become a genius too. Find an idea that moves you, something that unsettles you and make that your new art project. Either that or devote yourself to pure beauty. I'm done here.

Hi KuNiva Can't really say much about the characters from the first post, but I think anyone that knows the game you mentioned will know if you are right
What I will say is that I was lucky enough to spend sometime with the original creators of the game that these concepts were done for and the change in style, from pure illustrator renders to a slightly more sketchy finish, was a result of my time spent with them.
They were really happy with the concepts that the studio did for the game, but for reasons I can't go into the project did not go any further
It was a great shame as I was really enjoying working on the project and working closely with the such great game designers

Wow, so much stuff since 2 days ago. I LOVE those soldier pencils. I have noticed that all of your work seems to be modern day, maybe try a knight or a spaceship? Or some combination of the two? I'd love to see what you can do with a fantasy setting like those of Fellah and many others. Keep up the good work, i'll be checking back often ~

man this is amazing! your stuff is great and very inspiring.

is it possible that you make a short tutorial how you´ve done the photorealistic pic with the woman.
    what settings you used etc.

that would be very kind of you and will help me alot.

    ciao

Thanks for all the comments, you're all too kind
Haxxxor as soon as I get sometime I'll do a short tutorial

This concept was done as a test for another games company.
I was not really after the job as it would have meant moving to a part of the country that I did not really fancy moving to.

But I really wanted to see what I could do as they wanted a Photo real Painty look. A style that I knew was the way to go for a lot of games concepts. So this image was really the start of me getting into this style. It aint the greatest but it's a start.

Glad you like the work WBear_nessecities
I had a year at Chelsea school of art in London, then spent sometime as
a comic book artist working mostly for the British comic 2000AD featuring Judge Dredd. Now I spend the time between working as a games artist doing a little concept art and as an illustrator working on whatever comes along
with the help of my wife, who is a great artist and inspiration.

Hey tekdj. Nice graphic style you've got going on here. I'm not real fond of the white outline around some of your characters and vehicles, but otherwise it's a real clean design sense.

Looks like we were looking at the same photo ref for this image:

Spats, lefran , fog, Cowlander, yeticatcher
Thanks so much for dropping in and saying such nice things

yeticatcher the white outline is just a presentation thing it's not part of the original artwork, and well spotted on the ref for the female character

If I remember right the ref picture was a photo of Jessica Alba,
    I really liked the pose.

I'll be popping into all your SB soon to see what all of you have been up to.

Why do all the progress shots start with the finished pencil rendering? I wouldn't mind seeing the roughs for the pencils, so I could swipe a new rendering technique.

I agree, that one stands out too. But the backgrounds still intrigue me, though everything looks fine, overall.
