[WINNERS: ION & HUYDOAN.COM] Design Your Mech 2-in-1 Challenge

DA WINNERS !!! BEST DESIGN: huydoan.com BEST ILLUSTRATION: ION

    Good job everyone!

The poll is up !!! Check it here.

    DEADLINE: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2006

    CHALLENGE: DESIGN YOUR VERY OWN MECH/ GIANT ROBO/ IRON GIANT/ TRANSFORMER/ SHIROW HOMAGE/ ROBOTECH/ MECHWARRIOR/ etc.

JUDGING: Poll will begin October 16 and will run for 1 week. Winners will be announced Sunday, October 22.

    2 CATEGORIES:
Best Design & Best Concept Illustration

    SUBMISSION:
Each challenger can submit one unique entry for either or both of the categories.

"Best Design" entry can be a posed or unposed mech with a figure for scale; or a turnaround sketch/model sheet like those used in the toy design and video game industries; a 2d or 3d rendered portrait; or a technical illustration with cutaways and text explaining design features (these are just suggestions)

    "Best Concept Illustration"
entry can be a battle scene with background; an enviro painting showing mechs (like a hangar, for example); a comic cover style montage; a 1 page sequential; a speed painting (again, these are just suggestions)

Any Medium, Any style, All skill levels. Up to you how pro or juvenile you want to take it, or how derivative or original you wish to make your designs. Just remember your forum name will be associated with your submission(s) in the poll.

FURTHERMORE: Feel free to share wips (or links to your wips) in this thread or bump it up noting updates. Just keep image wips under one post as much as possible and keep the files small to keep things tidy and minimize browser slow downs. This is optional.

Submit final entries anytime on or before the due date. I'll edit this post with the poll, gathering all your final images or whatever you've abandoned in this thread if you don't finish in time.

RULES WILL BE AMENDED AS NEEDED.

Good luck. Have Fun. Kick Ass!

Count me in...and here it is! I call it the Soild Fish. I was planning to do a side view but I dont think I will have the time.

[WINNERS: ION & HUYDOAN.COM] Design Your Mech 2-in-1 Challenge

The Solid Fish was first sighted on december of 2083. They emerge from the pacific ocean but there is still no idea where in the pacific they originate.
It stands at about two and a half feet high and hovers around a foot and a half off solid ground. Ten Solid Fish can be found per every square mile of most busy cities.
They are only active during the first twelve hours of each day.During this time it is seen gathering debris off the ground, objects like plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and loose pieces of paper. It takes these objects and places them in a large pile in the middle of whatever city it is located near. On the eleventh hour of its activity it finds a body of fresh water and buries itself in the ground next to it. During the last few minutes of activity it makes a series of sounds that, when combined with the sounds of other near by mechs, sounds like music. No one knows why they do any of these activities. The Solid Fish was officialy classified as a mech in june of 1984 when we learned that it was infact being piloted by a previously undiscovered jellyfish...

    Ooooh.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed, The world in arms is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from an iron cross."
