crimson: updated! more!
here is some progress on my nazi guy. will be normal mapping and such as soon as possible. what do ya guys think?

His side profile looks extremely creepy and cool.. I'd have a fold of skin that goes over the upper teeth to make it look more connected. Also give him a Luger pistol with creepy details like his jaw. The boots in the 3D model also look really cool, way better than the sketch.

hey thanks man, actually his jaw shouldnt look connected to his head because its a mechanical jaw. he doesnt even have upper teeth, the jaw destroyed his face over time. i was gonna go w/ a luger but instead i chose to do-up a mauser w/ a banana clip and stuff. but thanks for the comment, everybody around here hates on 3d.

Good job so far VeeDub. But if I may, I'd like to just put my two cents in here. The area around this guys brow seems to be overdone. His eyebrows seem to protude quite a bit, giving him a monkeyish quality.

Great job on the detailing of the mechanical feet. I'm really digging that. I've got some more crits though. His overcoat. Are those things on his chest straps? or tubes? In the modeled version they look a bit like tubes, and in the 2d version they look like straps. Either would work (straps because of his big badass coat, and tubes since he's all mechanifieded). As I said, either would work. But I can't really tell which it is? Maybe you could try to define those a bit more.

yeah my friend told me they really don't resemble straps either, now since you pointed that out too im gonna have to flatten them up a bit. good call though, thanks for keepin up w/ the crits, ill post a new improved version later today.

nice detailing on this one - looks like too many polys for a game character though- perhaps animation or normal mapping the result is your target?

Hey man. good to see ya updatin'. The straps still don't look strappy. I suppose they could work if they were ropes, but if they are ropes then they are still way too stiff to be believable. try going here and checking out what's there. It will put you on the right path I think.

because of my time constraint those straps are gonna have to do, but thanks for lookin out. perhaps i will change them once this quarter is over. i'll post update later!

update on some zbrush work. normal map is driving me crazy so i was forced to export high res into maya as is due to time constraint. how do u feel about it?

Nice VB your on your way to glory! Hi rez is fine for renders and such, and the coat and head are looking sweet. Texture is ok, I know you said its only base though. I think if you can get your normal map sorted out first then move to texturing you will have a more enjoyable experience because you can bake your map into your texture which will help a fuckton with painting! Great model, Five stars from me!
