Thumbs up How do you..? (resolved)

the question is how do i reduce the size of a document in acrobat. I am working on a Mac and the version number is 5. I want to reduce the file size of a resume i plan on sending to a company via email. I have been researching how to do it but nothing really helps. Right now the file is 274 k and it needs to be brought down under 200k.

Thanks for any help and ideas.

You need to mess with your PDF compression settings in both Word and Adobe Pro. There's a checkbox somewhere about removing tags that will halve the size of your PDF's.

If you can wait till tomorrow, I'll go into the office and post my optimal PDF settings.

    do you have graphics embedded?

i'm using an old version of pagemaker plus distiller so it may be a little different. But when creating the .pdf there's an option to tweak the graphics compression and resolution. 75dpi is correct for monitor usage, higher if it's mean to be printed.

Why would your resume be over 200k?

I dunno 0kelvin. It was made in Illustrator CS. It has a few boxes in it but nothing insane. I just found an old copy of acrobat from a friend and that solved the problem.

    Thanks 0kelvin, Machzero, and ruzkin.
