    Mr Man's Doodalities

Check the last pages, the first lot are rubbish

I have finally got a scanner, after being on this site for several years now. Ive been so eager to do this because not only will crits help me but ill have more of a drive to keep posting things and working my ass off.
Now I havent got much at the moment to show you, but I thought id scan a bundle of Doodles that have been lying around. Alot of the work is just quick scribbles but please feel free to crit

These arent In any specific order so theres old and new-ish stuff here.

    Thanks

Hey Mr. Man. haha clowns mixed with pirates aaargh. Good start, just keep posting more. Aproach each page like you are going to kick its ass, and make something worth framing. Of course somethimes that doesn't happen, but its that mindset that is important. Those doodles on the letter paper remind me of a buddy who would doodle all day during class. Every edge of the paper was covered except for the center (where the school work was supposed to go). He just turned it in like that. But keep it up.

I think that the evil clown page, and that last one are the strongest, they feel more like you were focused while drawing them. Keep working on the anatomy, but dont let it beat you, cuz lets face it....anatomy is tough

BTW, like the thread name.....reminds me of mortal kombat

BarretThomson: Hehe Yeh I was like that at school too Its so hard to resist the temptation. I dont know why I was drawing on lined paper because I have a stack of yummy paper under my desk to be used.

nofingers: Thanks I was highly inspired on that clown page that day. Latley It seems that I do really quick scribbles just to get ideas down. I reallly should focus abit more on actually finishing a piece of work I think.
Edit: Oh yeh its supposed to be like mk ^^ Im a big mk fan hehe.

Thanks for your comments Ill update shortly

Hey Rich. The sketches are what I would expect to find in a schoolbook. They're really fun and have great expression, however, I advise you dig into your pockets, get on amazon, and buy dynamic anatomy by hogarth. And study it! I promise, its not nearly as boring as it sounds

*sigh* Theres always something else I need to buy though.

1st pic This is a study of my hand though I got abit carried away by drawing vegetation coming out of my fingers.

2nd pic some small studys of my face using a shaving mirror.

These look good man, be patient when you are drawing though, think about your mark placement.
Good too see you producing so much in the holidays, always a good sign.
this is nice, any chance of seeing some of that shading in your sketches?
have a look at foot construction too, there are 3 main masses, These are them.
    Keep them coming!

Hi Man. I'd suggest making some studies after 'good' artists... For example, when I picked up the pencil for the first time I drew TONS after Marshall Vandruff at www.draw123.com. Give it a shot!

Badger Hey thanks for popping by. I agree with the shading, I find it difficult to produce shapes using shading and balancing how much to shade. Most my stuff usually turns out over worked. Ill keep trying though.
And I never realised that i dont really draw feet. I seem to rush them because they seem inferior I guess. I shouldnt though.

doyle Thanks for the link though im having trouble running it..Oh wait its just loaded up..hmm. Ill have a browse round thanks ^^

Blackguy Ill try and update often. Hope you get some stuff up soon man.

Ok small update, First one is just a quick bike doodle and I was experimenting with digi painting. I totally suck at it but im trying keeping at it.
It was a monster design for a comic, Its very tiny so I blew it up in size. This was for a comic competition.

Sorry I havent had time to answer everyones comments latley.

John_the_one Cheers for your comments Its nice to have someone cheering me on unfortunatley the bike isnt in snow, Im just really shit at painting lol. I was experimenting with different brushes trying to make some textures but I failed miserably. Never mind just gotta keep going.

gmags Thanks alot for the moral support Im gonna try and fill more pages with hatch marks, I find it really addictive for some reason.

Haxxxor That put a smile on my face reading your comment and I agree with you 100% about my linework. I think I draw far too fast and I lack a certain control with my pen/pencil. Hopefully those hatchwork pages should help straighten me out and I think Ill try using my arm more than my wrist abit more.

Ok thanks to Justin Oaksford I now know how to paint under a scanned Image which will come in very hand for any ink drawings that I may produce in the future.
Ive had a play around with my pirate character and Its nice to see him with abit more life to him. The colour Is very basic and lacks many tones but I thought I should post him up anyway. I really should do some more studys with digital still life. Hmm, Ill try and find an interesting vegetable.

Edit: Coloured my wierd monster thing too.

Small update, Some caterpilla from Alice in wonderland done at college. The image qualitie isnt too good because I had to scan a printed image if that makes sense so I apologise for the bur.
The second one is supposed to be a bad guy for me and my friends Dragonball z story. I know Its not anime at all but it I suck giant monkey testacles at manga. His deltoid looks wierd because its supposed to be like a plate of armour sorta stuff and the head and neck are really corrupt lol.
Inspiration was The Crimson king from otogi and diablos from ff8.

Andy P Thanks for popping by man, youve been a Big inspiration to me
