Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
I just joined CA and it seemed obvious to start a sketchbook so i can keep track of my progress (if there will be any).
The quality of the work here is waaay higher then mine...but that's why im here. To learn. 8)
I'll start off with a dump of some more recent sketches, studies and quick digipaintings.
Great start <> starred you up <> few more are you we be on the board <> keep working and posting and you will keep improving <> work on the movement and weight of your figure work.
i realy like that first one. your digital looks better than your pencils.
but keep practising. just like all the rest and you will improve . and we will notice
The first one is a rembrandt studie so i can't really take credit for it!
Well...lets get back to drawing and start improving
and a another one...
This is a wip. Still have loads of things to do but i wanted to post it anyway.
I wanted practise on canvas, and a friends birthday is coming closer, so i thought lets paint him in a sort of old portrait style as a present.
I found this painting, from Frans Hals i believe, and replaced it with my friends head.
Using the painting as a ref for the armor and cloth.
Still have one week to finnish it so i better get back to it
The last one's already way better than your first image on your SB. But one thing was more correct on't. There was one side of the face being lit by light and the other being in shadow. You don't have to stick to that, but if you aplied that at least to BG on last one it would look better.
that second one in your second update looks realy fantastic.
just keep posting your stuff. i will drop by now and then to look . ^^ --> every day
@blacky: Thanks! i will keep it in mind.
@Oma: Thank you, i better keep working then
Here some of yesterdays sketches...nothing fancy, tried a little to find a human form without ref. Failed miserably hehe
Strong work, that painting of your friend is looking good!
The Rembrandt looks very good, did you draw it out with linework first or paint directly with mass and shape? The reason I ask is because there's hints of linework in the digi stuff and maybe you could try an excercise painting without lines.
Thanks for dropping by meatsworthy!
The rembrandt i started with mass and shape...but i got a tendency to get into details way to quick. i really have to hold myself back i guess!
As for some new crazy doodles...
I had a deadline from work yesterday and had to work all night.
But like any sane man i started sketching
I finnished the work though, somewhere in the morning hehe
I have been very busy with work lately so i haven't done much sketching... but i have managed to pop this one out.
Now im free so lets start painting yay!
AHhh such a lack of time!
Two of my latest scribbles...
and a quick head before going to bed!
Nice head. Maybe refine the shape of the skull a bit. Put some color variation in there and remove the orange bit behind his nose. I like the reflection on the back of his head.
ey marty, thanks. Going to look into it.
And a new one..
DSG fun hehe
and another DSG quickie!
Say hooray for my first finnished piece!
ha ha. That's great!
I'm digging you bold colors, strong compositions, cross hatching skills and great imagination.
Can I recommend perhaps blending with a larger brush, the strokie-ness of your work is the only thing that really distracts me.
Very nice. Keep painting and I'll keep enjoying it. thanks :.
thanks for dropping by!
It's funny you've said that, it is exactly what i am working on, that friggin strokie-ness. It is good to know that im on the right path trying to get rid of it
And a speedy.
hehe, thats a evil granny . but looks superb.!!
Your speedpaintings are awesome. no crits. keep up the good work!
Thanks for dropping by!
and off i go to the pub
I do say. You have some fine compositional skills.
Let me see some studies to go along with these dreamy pieces :.
