Hey Beo, thats good to hear. Im suprised though with the choice you made in the last four pages. Instead of finding different ways to draw, or diversivy on a technical level you mostly draw in the same way and look for different subjects.
    Thats cool.

I slowly get the impression that changing to something new for even a shortwhile might help you a lot. Whatever you do, keep it up and keep it fun :]

    Thanks guys!

I thought that's how artists did it, drawing different things with the same stylistic choices. Oh well.
I've been thinking real hard lately about starting a new project with some new characters and doing it in a different style. Something noir/futuristic keeps floating to mind.

This is a pent-up sketch posting. I did all of these over the past week and weekend. Some were done in a small sketchbook I found while cleaning. And what's funny/scary, these aren't even all of the sketches from this week...I tend to draw a whole lotta crap. I'm not gonna explain them all, because most are self-explanatory. If anything in confusing, feel free to ask about it.

    A speedy from today.
Autolycus, my space pirate character, doing something. There are a couple problems here-and-there, like the towers in back aren't perspectively perfect, little anatomy things, and some lighting things. But, it's good (for me, at least) in one hour, 15.

Hey man. Good stuff here, but they are all too sketchy. I'm not sure what your end goal is, but it seems to me that you need to spend some time doing more polished pieces. you'll see improvement in a lot of areas if you spend more time to produce more finished pieces every now and then in addition to your sketches. Keep at 'er!

    Thanks Sep!
There are two replies I'm thinking of right now, either one taken wholly seriously will make me out to be even more of an a-hole than, I'm sure, people already think I am.

    1. I'll add polished, finished illustration to the list of things people have recommended to me, and I'll get to it later. 2. I've never been much of a polished, finished, over worked, super-slick, novel cover illustrator. Usually I shoot for just enough of a work over to show some detail, but mainly to get the idea across. Besides, slick artwork is boring to me.

Just a personal opinion, I'm not trying to knock your advice or deter critiquing...I just find polished artwork to be really boring.

    Anways, thanks again, for replying.

Here are a couple from today. A cookie! This was done partially out of my mind, for the general shape and cookie design, and from observation, for the rendering and detail. The sword is something I'm giving a rest from my eyes, and I will come back to it later. I'm gonna use it in the transparent overlay of my Wacom tablet.

The last one, is a dud. I gave up one it after about an hour of back-and-forth with the perspective on all of the elements. It was like, "this is wrong...ok fixed, but now this is wrong...fix...but this is wrong now...fix...ah crap I made the first thing wrong again..." So, after destroying it with layers of digital paint, I dropped it.

    So...

Two more, from yesterday. I like to let personal speed paintings sit for a while before I post them, just to look at it with refreshed eyes. The color one was about 2 hours...not counting idle time and time looking up stuff. The b/w one was about 20-30 minutes...just before bed. So, it's not as refined, but worth posting, just to show. A couple notes...her skin is a little dead...and her head has a funny shape. That's a Monet in the picture frame.

Yes, some good improvements Beo, I also like the stuff in #212.

The sketch in #190 is neat

#194 with the guy holding the sword is also good. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks guys.

Two quickies from yesterday and today. The first one was 73 minutes and the second one was 125 minutes. Lots of playing around with some Filtering and Blending Modes. There are some minor details here-and-there, but they are getting fewer and fewer. There are larger versions of both on my blog.

I guess a nudity warning is necessary here. But, should this just be assumed on an art forum.

Another one...similar to the others. I hated this one. It was an uphill battle to get everything to this point...I don't care what it looks like to tomorrow...I'm just glad it's done-ish.

Another naked elf babe. Probably the last one for a while. I have the "back view" here and the "front view" on my blog, but I'm not really happy with that one. I should note, I was inspired by a poster of Freeman from Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

    Great improvement!

this reminds me of a 90's kung-fu movie starring Jet Li... He had a kid standing on his shoulder all the time o.0 - In the last one, the hair doesn't really get to stand out against the saturated red background, but maybe that was intentional. Dunno. Anyway, keep up the good work! I've been absent for a while so I'm looking forward to seeing your future updates :]

Thanks Spats! Yes, the red in her hair is supposed to be almost exactly the same as the circle.

Alrighty! For those of you who have been following this thread (all three of you), you may have noticed my updates becoming very sporadic, almost dropping off. Well, I'm not getting lazy with my artwork...well, no lazier than usual...it's just that I've been spending lots of time applying to places and that's been taking up more time out of my days for digital painting. I still do sketching everyday, and here are the results for the last five-seven days or so.

So! If my updates become every five days or so instead of everyday, that's because I'm probably panicked about work or about applying for work.

In this set are several ideas, including silhouettes for battle scenes/special moves, space ninjas (so they can fight space pirates), some alien swordsman guy along with several creatures, and misc things like faces and pipes.

Great composition and colors on this work Beo, though it's a bit murky still.

    http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1171962865

The above one made me lol, though I'm not sure what's going on with her mouth/hand?

Your art is brilliant sometimes, at other times I want to slap you upside the head though. I wish you'd stop drawing the pam anderson lips on almost all your characters in particular. Lets see something new from your humans too.

Seriously though, you're improving, so you're doing something right!

    Since you asked, you can.
Also, she's holding a fan. I just didn't clean up the drawing...well, I don't clean up drawings often...which is why her chin is showing through it.
And the line for head slapping may start right by me, but it ends waaaay down the street.

    DOMS

Well, to be accurate...Rick Dom IIs. Though, I don't know why a space mobile suit would be in a sandy/dusty area. It's kind of a piece of fanart, which I'm not fond of doing, but I couldn't think of anything and drew a robot with one eye...so I looked up some details for Doms, and this is the result. The time on this one is about 140 minutes, which is Daredevil plus a half hour. Now you may be wondering why I was watching such a horrible movie...well, Mike Nelson and crew are doing mock DVD commentaries, of which, Daredevil is a movie they've made one for.

Couple things that need fixing in retrospect, but its alright for now.

    Thanks Spats!

These are from the last couple of weeks. Various things including some incomplete, but still noteworthy sketches. Usual stuff mostly, the color enviro needs some work like making the bricks jankier, more contrast/darker all around, and some textures.

Lots of people like the silhouettes. I know i gotta practice color theory more, it's one of the things on my artistic to-do list.
    Thanks again!
