    Thanks Big N!
I think I'm gonna smooth the skirt out a bit. I always draw characters with long legs, force of habit I guess.

    Helps a lot! More coming.

    Backlog.

So here's a backlog of sketches and stuff from the past couple weeks. Sickness and work and Brawl have kept me from posting stuff online and replying to peoples forums. Colds suck...they suck hard. I'm behind in everything now.

So I finally got to finishing that work I was doing, so here's an update. The painting of Beo is coming along nicely but I don't know what to throw into the background yet. Any suggestions? Also, for the sword enthusiasts, that's a spadroon.

There are also some pirate pics and a robot of some variety. I decided to try inking the pirates, to see if I had gotten any better at it...nope...still got to work on that.

Man, your clothing/costume design seems to be one of your best features of your drawings.

I mean, your anatomy is nothing to scoff at either, you just seem to have a knack for showing cloth and armor pretty well. One day I'd like to see an environment out of you ;p

Regardless, you'd make an awesome comic book creator dude.

Oh and for that Beo piece, I think I told you on AIM, but I'll tell you again, it looks like it might be either a far off panned shot or a close up, contemplative piece. Like maybe in the background you could show like he's way up on a balcony or something, and below him is a sprawling foresty area, or perhaps its a close up, and there is nothing at all but a wall or something (which is where the words would be written for the comic part).
    Either way, nice work.
Also, color that girl in the dress above, it just begs for color.
And as far as inking goes, it's prolly best just to do that via tablet in photoshop. I think physical inking is kind of outdated honestly ;p But meh, just an opinion of mine.

Oh, and btw, I get on every night before bed ready to smash bros. you, but you're never on... be a latenight guy you bastage >.< That way I can get schooled and learn how to be a badass heh.

Anyway, cya laters on AIM or something.

I'm always ready to Brawl, just send me an AIM message and I'll be there.
This may be a surprise but I don't sit there with the game on all day and night.

Between drawing bunnies and children, here's this. Well, I'm not really all that happy with the background, but at least it's something.

Hey Beo, I really like the dynamic action in the last one, also the shadow is adding to the motion and drama of the scene. The textures are also good though I wish you had blurred a bit or reduced contrast going towards the background. There is a problem with the character though, the pose is not working, mostly at the foreground and the leg extended towards the viewer. I think it would work better if you show the knee or the leg bending or simply redraw the entire scene from a different angle.

In your previous post I like the tripod.

Also on THIS ONE I like the left two sketches.

    Sketchdump 1/3

Belated Thanks n1va! Dunno why I didn't think to blur the background, oh well. It's been long enough that I can't remember what I did with that piece or how I did it.

So, it's been a while since I've posted art here. I'm buried under four children's books (two complete, still workin' on two), and two new projects of my own insane imaginings.

The first new project is a web comic. It can be found here: http://youcantundrawit.com.

It's title is You Drew It! You Can't Un-Draw It! It's about art, nerdiness, art school, uhhhh, and other stuff, that I'm sure will be mildly hilarious. Well, at least it will be chuckle-worthy. The first strip should appear on Monday (unless I get really, really lazy, then it will be a week from Monday). The release schedule is probably going to be every Monday and every Thrusday.

What I'm hoping to do with it in the future is get some more artists to contribute to it. I still don't know the details, but if anyone is interested PM me here, PM me in the forum on the site, email me, or IM me.

The other new project is going to explain where all these wacky elves come from. It's gonna be another web comic...probably released on the same site, in the near-ish future. But, I know even less about how I'm going to do that, at this current point in time. If anyone is interested though, keep your eyes open for an announcement.

Also, for anyone who missed it, I updated my website's design. There's a link in my sig.

So, on with the images. Some stuff of Beo and a new character who's a mermaid/elf hybrid.

Hmmm... I didn't get the first comic, but I surely get the new art you got here. It's great as always. BTW, my coloring has come up leaps and bounds! Haven't really been working much lately due to school being out for the past two weeks and well... to sum up again. I'm incredibly lazy and will hopefully have some new art for your site soon...

Nice character sketches as always my good sir! You definitely have a knack for clothing. Keep it up!

That's actually a different character. I'm still trying to get his face different-er than Beo's. Probably one of my least drawn characters so I kinda use a more generic face right now.

Actually, it's good you pointed that out before I drew him for the comic...I probably would've gone on not noticing it until it was too later.

    Thanks malk!

I found an image on the interwebs that had a halftone pattern over it with this color scheme. So I copied it...er...I used it as inspiration for this one.

Hey Beo, love the colors in the last one. I also like this one, it's nice and quick but a lot of motion. A couple days ago I checked out the websites you linked to in your posts above, definitely unique looking. I personally don't care for the high contrast, otherwise I like the shapes.

Btw here is a quick rework of your last image, rather than using black I used light as some of your borders to help set the source of light. Curious what you think? Lemme know if you want me to take it down once you look at it.

Nah, just kidding. The rendering looks fine, but that's not really the look I was going for.

I wanted it very flat with no rendering.
Here's the original, which took me a while to find as I threw it in my sorting folder after I did the above piece. I think the only major differences are this person inked and didn't have any sort of background.

Well I don't know the origins of that exact image but there are many like it which are simply scans. Back in the day before comics became the glossy things you buy at the store these days most were printed on cheap paper which as that pattern (the checker field brush) engraved or stamped into it. While this was not readily visible to the naked eye if you scanned at a high enough res the pattern would at times annoyingly distract from the actual image.

It's kinda funny how this worked out actually in your case. Even though the image you were trying to create the look for has good ink and character it just fails for me, the color is pointless and honestly I like yours better. Even though whoever the artist was that drew the original was good it is one of the failings of inking IMO and why some digital artists have busted into the comix field big lately. Having to use harsh black outlines for everything should be a matter of choice... and it seems like it was in your case for this image. I also like the pose of your character and while in your image the color looks like it could be a lighting artifact it makes no sense in the original... and btw the color is what immediately grabbed my attention about that image.

Looking cool, I like the highlights on her chest, definitely gives that portion of the outfit a plastic feel. Why is her arm exploding tho?

Her head is darker, so is her hand on the hip but the rest of her blends into the background even the shadow on the lower part of her breasts. I didn't understand what the capper 23 to 36 hours in PS means?

Capper, end-cap, screwed on the last of a work time.
I worked on a children's book for something like 23 hours out of a 36 hour time period and I capped it off that pick.

Thanks for the crit n1va! The idea behind her arm was it's going through a diagnostic. It's sort of a forced pose for her though, like "oooo my fake arm can do this."

    Sketchdump 1/4

Sketchdump part 1! The misc. sketches. Aliens, robots, monsters, etc. Autolycus the space pirate is thrown in here, since he's technically an alien. More on my Blog.
