Salaryman - Private Parts
Okay, here we go!
Thanks to all who requested this sketchbook and thanks to CA.org and Davi for organising the invite. I'll try not to let you down.
Sorry for the delay, but I'll hopefully be updating once weekly from now on, so only meagre offerings for this first post:
The usual salaryman with some colour treatment...
and some day job stuff, fairly new to the enviro concept work, about a days work, though the difference between 3 hrs and 6 hrs work is hardly noticeable... ah well...
Yep, for now. More sketch page stuff next week, and at some point I'll do some process work. Let me know in the guestbook if there are any specific areas you'd like me to expand on.
Thanks for the support concepters!

Been away for a few days so I'm falling behind already! More sketch page stuff. I've gone for a softer approach on the shading and upping the saturation... process stuff maybe in a couple of weeks.
Cheers for stopping by, see you in the guestbook and back here next week.

Mini update. Proper art to come on Monday next.
This here's the master file I used to create my overlay texture. Not as is, but by playing around with levels and colourising then using as an overlay/multiply/whatever layer above the artwork. Really useful for hiding brush edges and adding extra depth and detail when the clock is ticking.
edit: the jpeg really fuckered this up, here's a better version if you're still keen:
Yours to do with as you wish.
See you Monday.

Planned something different with this... but there you go, just a character shot then overdressed with overlays.
And this is what some of the details would look like with your face pushed agaianst your monitor. Probably.
Bitmapped edges on the colouring. I'll explain all later.
Thanks for stopping by.

bit of a week, pen drive broke, home laptop adapter broke and woke up on Friday partially blind.
I get the hint, I'm taking a little break, had a hell of a year.
That aside, I'm really not happy with where I'm heading with my stuff right now. Need to go and think what I want to achieve with what I have.
as for this, there is a story behind all this, but it ain't really important is it.
see you sometime, guys, thanks for all the support.

gonna spend the next while drawing from life and the brain only. Need to improve and rely less on ref for poses.
hope to do a couple more of these soon, non ref (no big deal to some, huge deal to me):
first sketch i've enjoyed in an age.

in the middle of some digital sketch stuff, so some old logos to be going on with.
I guess my new digital stuff is an attempt to resolve the gulf between my linework and my love of logos and graphics. My scratchy wobbly line didn't fit with this stuff. I think my recent stuff does. Anyway. Blah.

Been busy, so it's been a while...
Too ill to go to work but well enough for this today The paint equivalent of my old sketch pages. Hope to do more, I need to practice as work refuses anything but the painterly approach these days
Ref'd of course with some bonus lighting added in
See you soon and no more smilies...

the above image is really eating away at me, I may take it down...the idea outways the execution, anyway, I did a comfort sketch last night to make me feel happy again. I gotta stop looking at the Last Man Standing entries, reminds me I've got too far to go....
anyway, El Diablo!

I haven't been meaning to wind people up over the last few posts. I'm really getting into the painting approach, it's opened up many new avenues and I know when I start playing around with lighting properly I'll be able to explore even further. I'll not get into the frustrating side of it... as for being down about certain sketches, well I know when I do good and I know when I do bad....
Thanks for all the comments and support, it always means a reat deal.

Been too busy lately, mad stuff at work -paper work, being a lead ain't much fun Just completed a 5 pager with Ivan Brandon for Image, a few details here:
This shows an early character sketch down the bottom there:
The linework echoes my old stuff, no not the 'salaryman' stuff, old comic stuff which I have posted here under another name a couple of years back...anyway here's example panel which may or may not stay
Dave Johnson and Bill Sienkievicz are involved, so check it out for them alone! There may be some more interesting stuff on the distant twinkling horizon...graphic novels have been mentioned. Oh my.
Oh yeah, I got the job via someone here, whoever it was, PM me and we'll chat!
Anyway, sorry I missed replying in the old comments thread, a lot of nice stuff was said so thanks.
I got to get back to some painting stuff!
