In honor of Crit Week, would the admins be willing to award a few eyeballs to some folks who have long been leaving detailed and helpful feedback on CA? I can name a few ladies from the Girlie Calendar thread who are more than deserving!

Currently i am sobering up in the lounge, but once i am sober, i will leave some critiques. Scouts honor! Well, actually i'll prolly have to sleep this off. heh.

But even in that event, i'll still go leave some more crits. I think i might have upped my lounge reading too much in the past month or two.

I guess that's why so few people go there and rather spend their time in the Lounge.....

whoa, is that what those mean? I totally didn't even know what those mean.

I did a few crits, but to be honest it's very difficult for me. I really have a hard time giving crit to the more inexperienced artists so I tend to keep to the FF. I mean, crit in FF isn't discouraged or anything, is it?

But I'm trying. I gave a few so far.

It's a bit hard for me to do it too

who am I to say they should do more human figure studies when I souldnt be typing at this moment but be doing MORE human figure drawing myself... hehehe

but it s also hard to add something meaningful when the thread is at 15 replies... all the points that should be improved are already told

While we're on the topic of crit week i found this post by gezstar on teh evil, and thought its interesting here as well.
Thought i'd drop it in here, since its related to the topic ...
Personally i think drawing "anatomy" often means drawing form, not muscles found in a book. So its very important not to tell beginners to go learn "anatomy", but to practice drawing from life. I find that mistake is still made on our forum very often. Noone learns from a "that arm is too long", in his next picture the person will draw the waist too thin or the gesture is awkward etc. Only lifedrawing can rectify this.
Edit: Not to make a new post, but yes Dave Palumbo, I don't think anatomy should be avoided. Its just that i think the term is often used in the wrong context

well, sorta. But you don't have a complete understanding from just life drawing the same as you don't have complete understanding from just anatomy study. One helps the other and they should both be give proper study. Just learning life drawing without any anatomical knowledge is not only going to make your direct observation more difficult, it's going to make your work from imagination 10 times more difficult. Book learned anatomy is like a language that helps you to understand why you're seeing what you see when you look at the human figure, thereby helping you to see things more accurately and to better apply them in the absence of a model.

    just sayin'
