DSG 1107: Sci-Fi: GAS-SPEWING "MOTHER" TERRA-FORM BOT BIRTHS SPHEROID "OFFSPRING"

    [ This one's a bit odd sounding, I guess, but I can't really re-word it right now. ]

[ The idea here is that there's this odd creature that has been created to live off of raw materials found on the planet that is to be terra-formed... ]

[ Because the "mother" is stationary and enormous, she "births" and sends out smaller "offspring" bots that drill and retrieve from a-far fuel-rich minerals for further processing. ]

[ Or something to that effect. ]

    [ ]

First DSG with a tablet for me!
Any help with the aspects of tablet use would be awesome...

This is so much more fun when its not a mouse...

I'm pretty new to CA so this is my first real attempt at a DSG topic. I hope it's not horrible, I'm still trying hard to learn color.

Got bored towards the end and didnt end up coloring it heh. Its cropped from a larger bunch of sketches so theres some lines up the top. Just ignore them ;D

nice work machzero, although i would suggest making some parts a bit sharper (less blurry) and introducing some more colour. your stuff is generally very unsaturated.. muddy browns, greys etc..

jtho, lovely work, but think about the aerodynamics of the design.. spikes facing forward at the top would break off at high speeds or something.. the perspective also seems to change a bit from the front to the back of the aircraft.. using one colour for the whole craft is also incredibly boring, designwise

Forgot about the gas-spewing in all the excitement. PS, maybe 4 h.

Had a lot of fun with this one. Wanted to add more colour variation but ran out of time.

Crustation & Matchzero: Nice to see your processes. I haven't used any perspective tools yet. I'll have to give 'em a try.

Skribble: Hehe... I see you like spiderbots too.

Jtho: Interesting design. I like the gas vents.

ConCrete: Kinda hard to make out the design, but the blue lights are a nice touch.

Spotting what they thought was an interesting geographic feature on the data collected from the NATYS orbital probe, The crew monitoring the rover never expected this, something which seemed so human, but couldn't be...

Done with 2B mechanical pencil and charcoal (I know I shouldn’t mix those two, but I’m concentrating in gaining artistic momentum…), took me about an hour and a half, maybe more…

machzero - nice atmosphere with the light breaking thru the coulds, the whole picture feels very realistic.

Jtho - i like your design overall, but i also think the perspective is out from front to back, the ramp would be pointing in the same direction as the body (assuming it's coming straight out of the front and not to the side at an angle)...although it looks like you were maybe going for a more articulated body ? in which case it might work better to empahsize the joins in the body, and perhaps change the angle of the front legs to reflect that movement.

damn - i just read the brief again and i've missed a few points...oops.

very basic - i'm not quite ready for complex perspective stuff yet !

Lookin good, mr digs. I think it´s great how the red lamp is bouncing off the ball-like vehicle, but you should probably blend in some purple reflected light from the environment as well.

Thanks Crustacean - I'll give it a go, that'd probably make it sit better on the landscape too, it's been bugging me that it looks a bit too detached.
