Ive been sketching for a while and am always looking to improve. I thought I would go through and share some of the sketches ive been doing and let people see what else i do other then what ive posted on the other parts of the boards here. Feel free to say what you like. I'm proud what ive done and I only hope that I improve over time to be better at what i do. I thought I would start with some roses from my garden and one of my favorite animals.

Your work looks uneven now, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not so good. Just keep practicing and hopefully you'll be able to make what is great to you now as merely average. Once you feel confident of copying flowers try copying more complex things.

Yep thats why im here. I can draw roses without much of an issue especialy when im relaxed (the top right rose is a good example) but when it comes to drawing people.. i donno. It drives me nuts because i know the fundimentals. My images come out cartoonish when im drawing from my mind and drawing from photos they come out 'aged'. SO im here to learn =)

I really like your wolf. It communicates a lot w/ few but effective markmaking, something that I think is not as evident in some of your rose sketches (particularly http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/746/roseannegl8.jpg). The wolf/man sketch is neat, though I think the man's eye is too big and his ear too small and oddly shaped. Good work, though! Keep sketching!

im still working with this one but i donno what to do with it. I may just leave it as it is its one of my exparaments as sorts for semi comic book type art.

My friend Gogo called me on the phone last night wanting me to design a tat for her. She emailed me an hour later with an image of what she had in mind. We spoke it over and this is what i came up with.

You've shown good initiative posting here.
Try using more than one pencil type to get a stronger black in there. Make the darkest parts pure black and the leave the lightest white. Also try using only Highlight, midtone, and shadow to keep it fairly simplistic. When shading apply midtone first. Then erase wherever a highlight needs to be...and add blacks last cause they're the fewest and hardest to get rid of.
Keep 'em coming. peace

you've definitly got talent, but you should get some anatomy books (on humans and animal) and draw from life, and that will really help hone your ability.

I agree with everything said so far, drawing from life and pushing your values would really help you improve..I don't think your pencil drawings are really lacking all that much. It'd be cool to see some color in here too and maybe some more "finished" looking things. Backgrounds, environments?
I like the wolf and the roses a lot. The girls are all good too, save that they all kind of seem to have the same expression.
nice sketchbook so far!

I think that your drawings from live are stronger than those from your head, keep that up, and I also just wanted to say that it is really cool that your friend went and got that tattoo that you drew on her portrait, that had to be very motivational for you as an artist, congrats.
Check out my sketchbook here
Critiques are much appreciated

Wow your drawings on woman is very good I like it and your shading on clothes are very good to. I also loved the wolf. Please keep drawing and posting. The only comment that I actually really have is work a little on male faces they look kind of weird.

Here is a sketch i am currently working on. Its in colored pencil so it wont look very "neat" Or anything. its also being done on water color paper. I hope people will like it when done. (Hope) Its a bit "setp by step"ish so.... yeah bare with me.
After a few hours of working with the angles. Taken with camra phone (sorry)
A few hours later with some more detail in the feathers and playing with fur patterns.
And as of an hour ago. Changed the type of Bird/Cat mix with the main one and fixed a few things that were bothering me. Still not done. The cat in the forgraound was changed from a cheetah/ Paraguine falcon to a white tiger/gry falcon mix so the marks would flow into eachother easier. The gryphon in the background is going to stay the golden eagle/black panther mix.
Also note that i changed from regular sketch paper to the water color paper between the last to.
