wasn't the winner of the previous challenge (green topaz) meant to choose the topic or something? Nevermind, survivor it is!

I had this idea of this Warrior from the future going back in time to be hired out by countries to kick the crap out of the enemies armies. At the end of the battle he is the only surivor.
final, thanks to those who critted me.

I'm not sure why, but I'm tempted to say try re-massing the forms so they read better... It looks really busy, use contrast and hue to kinda seperate them.. There is so much red- even thogh it's used to enhance feeling/mood, it is still way over-powering.

    Teen Challenge #12: The Survivor

    Tried doing a paintover-
I found most of the forms really hard to read and recognize- readability is crucial to a piece- a foreign object (That cape/hair/whip looking thing?) To me the function wasn't clear... I didn't know what it looked like.. I had to kinda guess. I also introduced some other hues to increase visual interest- Alot of your reds were so saturated and monochromatic (aside from the yellow, which kinda messed up the whole monochromatic concept), I just wanted to throw something else in there.
I hope my paintover can spark some sorta idea of what I was trying to say... especially when dealing with futuristic objects-even at an early WIP stage, their function should be recognizeable. Good luck!

Oh, oh, the topic is good, on to brainstorming ideas! I shall do a finished piece this time around, if my friends/beer addiction/lazyness doesn't spoil it all.

GREAT WORK SLOTH!!! It's MUCH better now!!! I would extend the dude closest to us's arm a bit, it looks stubby... maybe, to assist in Composition, make it lankier as opposed to more armored up... or whatever; Here is a paintover, hope you don't mind.

They aren't entirley symmetrical! =P That is to say, I did them both by hand, not copy/paste/skew, I tried to add a slight amount of perspective to them to make them look different, but I guess you can't really see it.

Well, not particularly. I labeled the topic as such because I can't really think of how you'd portray it without a character, but the focus is more on showing how and why that character is a survivor rather than just their clothing design and such.

Though honestly it's pretty open to interpretation, I won't reject anything unless it goes really outside the topic.

...that last part was not called for! They look symmetrical(eventho they aren't copied) and it's shitting on the whole composition, that's what i was trying to imply, nothing more!

Hey pixel, i feel your monster needs more colour, it seems a little see-through, just around the top half of him i mean. Is the blood the creatures own? or someone elses...if its own then maybe you could add some more damage marks? i Actually like where you have taken the idea, i just feel more love can be shown to the creature.
