//Hi guys and gals. Yep, I do realise I'm a bit stupid making a thread at the same time as those GuildWar guys. But I just need to get this image out of my head so I can get on with other things

Nàdur, the warrior Godess. The most graceful of all the Gods. During battle she appears to glide around her opponents with seamless movements reflecting the embroidery of her elaborate dress. A beautiful, loving creature outside of war; one of the deadliest, during.

    Hope you like.

    Her pretty face:

I told you I love you Jon. IMO, this is by far your best character piece.
1 small crit. is I'd like to see one leg bent, so it looked like the really swung that sucker hard.

    But this is lovely, man

this has a very good dynamic and a great rendering. only part i don´t like is her nose, makes her look like a boxer.

    Wow....

Beautiful pic, Jon. Your characeter designs and illistrative work has jumped so much higher lately. The only think about this one is that her legs look too slim and neatly tucked together for an action pose like that. Come to think of it, her arms probably wouldn't be locked like that after hitting something either.

Otherwise, it's your best char. piece as of yet. Brilliant - you make me so proud!! Hee ^__^

    PS: Love the dress

Its good to see you improving john. I love the dress and the hair, its done really well. I think her blade is a little distorted. It seems the angle of the hilt isnt the same as the blade. The handle is sticking out while the blade is going straight up, It could be an illusion because the blade is curved though im not sure. Well done though!

was going to say something to this effect, but that pretty much covers it. The blade does not recede, and I think the reflections may be at least partially to blame.

Sweet piece, though. I like the composition

Smashing piece Jon! Loads of energy and great design. I agree with the comments about the nose and the leg, but what the heck... fab!

    wow, thanks everyone!
Happy as hell you like her. I have to agree with all the crits. You're all dead on. I believe I caught myself up in details. I think my trouble with the legs was that I was trying to present how graceful she was, almost as though theres no real hard effort in her movement. Shes an agility and precision fighter. But ultimatley, yeah, I dont think I succeeded.
The blade, this seemed to have went wrong also. Its supposed to look like its tilting away from camera as though shes coming in to cut the cameraman up. I think the decals on the sword might be to blame?

But thanks again everyone! I'll have more soon.

    Posh, check your bloody PM's

Dang, Jon, this is just stunning; without a doubt your strongest stuff.

A couple things hit me, though. The ankles seem to be the weakest part of her anatomy. The legs just seem to flow into the shoes, instead of all the bones and ligaments that give that strong "I'm extending my foot in magical ecstasy" look.

The circle of hair, with the sword thrusting into the middle, is stealing some of the focal point's cheetos. The eye flows around there, but is abandoned by the layout, making it necessary to leap across to continue the delightful journey. It's not enormous, but is an unfortunate coincidence. The point just below that, where the sword, ribbon, hair, and tree edge all cross is also a thieving mock focal point. I think just having a different angle for the tree (so it doesn't parallel the hilt and most of the sword) would help some.

But these are really nit-picking. It's a very beautiful piece.

    Coool!
It's not really my cup of tea, but I really enjoy this one.
Loose the feet though, they bring the piece into cartoonland. Buy her a new pair.

Nice tight rendering dude, obviously. But yeah i agree it would be really nice to see a revised version addressing the leg issues. Amazing work though mate, you realised i will hassle you for painting tips now.

thats a very lovely concept idea and Im feeling jealous about how you were able to excecute it which one did you have first in mind, the concept, or just some random sketch and later gave the concept ? I find the latter more natural progress of art done than the first one, maybe if you were experienced enough you could do the first one too ?

At first I thought her eyes are closed and she has blue shadow but close up revealed they are open !

Love the bright background that makes her standout more

look I dont know why I love you I just do

She's got some flat abs. But that's not a crit. This is awesome, I love it. Her hair probably has birds nests in it that she has to brush out.

...and the split ends... let's just not think about it.

Thought I should reply whilst this thread's near the top.

    Thanks again everyone
Tim, my man, you're bang on about the legs & feet. And yeah the faux focal point. I didnt even notice untill you said, but now I can't stop looking at it. Might have been a subconscious thang.
But, I've started my new LMS pic, hopefully I can keep the level here going.

    Thanks peeps.

    Edit: Julien, thanks bro

Very nice work, I was going to mention the ankles/feet not looking very good but I see it has been addressed.

Kian - Man, this piece got me all giddy and excited. I love it, in all it's splendor and glam. It's very elegant and dynamic, and you pushed the material very well. Great, great work. I do agree about the feet and I would work on maybe making the feathers alot softer (especially the ones near your signature) -
