    Smile New person

I'm female, despite the username (it's a bit of an in-joke). Call me Anna or Bob, I don't mind.

I'm not seeking to become a professional artist, but I've always enjoyed drawing. I never studied art beyond the required levels at school, but if I had to go back and do it again I'm sure I'd take art instead of geography GCSE. I thought geoggers would provide a good background for geology A-Level, but it didn't.

I've come here because I like looking at other people's work (and because this looks like a nice friendly place), and it's nice to know that I can say what I think needs improving in a piece without having the artist say "But it's myy STYYYLE!" Of course, I want to improve my own work, too - just because I only do it as a fun pastime doesn't mean I can't take it seriously (don't you hate it when you trounce someone in a fighter and they say "but I was only playing for fun"? So it's not fun to do it right?). Plus, it'll help when I go to uni to study palaeontology and need to make field sketches.

I love the idea of a place with such a focus on critique. I post to dA and am getting rather tired of the same 3 or 4 people just saying 'cool' or 'hee hee' when even I can see it needs work. One of my regular commenters sometimes redlines me, though, which I love her for.

Wiimote, yay! Games are one of my twin passions (the other paleontology, palaeobiology, evolution, etc), so expect to see me in the games subforum too. I'm a reviewer for Gamestyle.net (currently just a front page and board, but we are on the cusp of relaunching with our new and better site).
