    DEADLINE
    SUNDAY, AUGUST 6th
The way the deadline works: if deadline is on a Sunday and your image is posted on that Sunday 23:59 your local time it's a good entry.
In fact - as long there is Sunday somewhere on the planet your entry is ok. I will make the poll sometimes Monday afternoon my time (GMT +2) yet i'll have a look at the last entries.

    --------------------------
    Oliviera
Among all things.. she had to be so nice. I've seen a lot in my journeys and she is just a victim of the oddity of this earth.
There are countries specialised in breeding "good men" - where women are ugly and masculine and if you have a daughter is not such a nice event.
Yet there.. she was pretty and feminine... until she reached 17.
Then... her problem begun. Her liver grew to an inrcedible size... and complications were... not to be understood.
She is 45 now.. still holds the nice and kind features on her tiered face... but the rest... well... it's for you to imagine.
    Now... concept!

    Topic elements:
1 = present day (movie like concept)
    2 = dramatic
Make sure your picture contains these - you will receive 3 VOTES for each topic covered.
2 extra votes will be offered for the description.

I wanted a very specific topic since i think we had enough.. B-movie and classical "waw" topics. we'll be back to that next week .. i have a good one ... standing by.
this job.. is for a scene in a movie by Spielberg. So... it has to be between grotesque and striking.. yet... we should see the DRAMA here, more then the freakyness. this is not the main character, yet we want each scene to be remembered.
    - Oblio

What, so we're after a pretty woman whose body mutated for ~30 years after age 17? As in tumorish?

Well, I couldn't finish this one ....I'm out.

    CHOW#36 - Oliveria

After Oliverias liver became to large for her body, it was removed and placed in a container and conected to her and was still able to function. Then her body began rejecting her all of her organs, so one by one doctors removed her organs, placed them in containers and reconnected them with tubes from outside her body. As a side effect of this, her skin was starting to fuse together all of her limbs, until she becomes a giant meatball.

[anouncement:] I'm not a doctor, but I play one on tv. I believe the answer you seek is called hepatomegaly. Hepato = liver, megaly = enlarged. Here's a wikipedia link for you:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepatomegaly
So, just think what havok is wreaked on the liver could also present on the body...be creative and remember - jaundice = yellow - may be worth introducing this here.
I've got to get back to my patients....I don't have any, but I've got some neural anatomy work to hammer out.
Hope this is in line with the topic, and if not, well...I'm not a doctor anyway.
    Cheers!

Here's my entry, not as good as the last one, but oh well. Oliveria had no where to turn to when her liver began enlarging. Females were not regarded highly in her society, and she was out of luck. Her torso began taking on odd forms as other organs started to enlarge. She was distraught, her beautiful figure that she would have used to find a man to protect her was gone. She ended up in a freakshow, showing her twisted body to make money. There, she met her salvation. One of the other freaks, the human stick, found her pretty face and personality attractive enough that he fell in love.. That was all in their youth. Now, they live in a trailer, the human stick has put some meat on his bones, and she runs an ebay company. At night they keep each other company in front of the warm glow of the TV.

did I get it right when I say that this is meant to be a woman with a good-looking face and a terribly distorted, crippled, fluid-dripping, ugly body underneath?
    Something like that at least?

hideyoshi: beats me. I'm still pretty confused. Seems as if the description is wanting us to create a dramatically-serious 45 year old woman with an enlarged liver and/or/possibly other mutations?

    Clarification, please!

i see this as a classical film job.
take an actor, preview make-up, think about your customer, etc.
sure.. your vision about a scene in a DRAMA movie is your own.
the ideea is... don;t make this a B-movie.
pick a good actress and think if she will accept your concept...
try to approach this .. like you really apply for the job. it's not an imagination excecise... it's more a topic to train you approach in meetig that "what the public will accept/like. What the customer realy expects... how does he think it will touch the audience."

    Update - Final:

First final on this forum. Been dying to do it. hope you all like it! Oblio this is coming in right at 12:00 today, still typing, hope that counts!

    CHOW#36 - Oliveria

Olivaria was struck ill at the age of seventeen; the cause and cure - unknown. Her insides began to swell to an enormous size. Her parents tried everything they could to find a cure, but to no avail. But one day, a mysterious man came by, claiming to be a healer. He offered his services, asking nothing in return. When he was finished, he left without a word. Days went by, turning into weeks and while the illness appeared to halt, the swelling never went away. It was on the day her younger brother was found nearly beaten to death that she discovered just exactly the gift the wandering healer bestowed upon her. In her grief, she laid her hands on her brother, willing him to live. And live he did. She had been given the ability to heal others, but not without a price - for every time she gave life to the person, she also took it away. In return for the immediate healing of the body, her powers required the giving up of a fraction of the lifespan of the person. And so, as long as Olivaria continues to heal, she will continue to live, young and prosperous, but marked forever by the strange growth.

Wip, not sure where to take this yet. But I guess this Oliveria has to be someone that has been through a lot because of a physical disease. Considering the brief, I think focus should be on the emotion in this piece. What do you guys think?

I dig it Supervlieg, one suggestion would to be to show the battle of her emotions tho, since shes supposed to still have a kind look on her face, you could show the torment within that kind look, if that makes sense. Like even though you can tell she's a kind person, her pain shows through. Just a thought. But it looks cool so far!

    CHOW#36 - Oliveria

With each day her affliction conquers more of her body. With each day, tragedy robs her of the gifts bestowed upon her when she entered this world 45 years ago. And yet, with each day, Oliveria grows ever more grateful of the merciful powers that be. For despite years of suffering, they still allowed her face - white as the mountains to the north in winter - to smile with, and share her warmth with the few who choose to visit her. They granted her a rare understanding of how nothing lasts forever in this world, so all things within it are that much more precious.

And they gave her a soul, 45 years ago. While one day all else will be taken from her, only they could ever take her soul.

So Oliveria will continue to smile, to show her gratitude to the powers above, until her body is consumed and her happiness becomes something only she will know.

Oliveria was the most beautifull woman in a country were woman were selected to based in other characters that were not aestethics.
Though unfortunatelly diesase stroke her, at first it was the swelled liver that was latter discovered to be a gigantic parasite, a strange slug probably, a emerging disease, probably caused by a nuclear plant disaster 40 years before.
the parasite lives now with oliveria and can not be removed because it would cause Oliverias death, she has to live in a glass room of the local zoo. She was isolated due to the agressivity of her "passenger" and so that it can not be transmitted.
people now come to the zoo to see the aberration that is still the most beautifull women in this strange country.

Hi, I'm new around here and thinking about trying this out, so, hopefully I'll have a WIP sketch soon. But, what you're talking about, with the enlarged liver but the face staying much the same sounds like visceral leishmaniasis. It's a fairly tropical disease. I don't know much about it, but there are a few pictures on the internet which might give people a few ideas.

Her parents could never explain it. Apparently everything just kept on growing. Well... all except her brain that is. Although she has the body of a bohemoth, her mind is frail and innocent. She's had the mind of a six year old ever since she was six years old. She's always wanted to be like the other girls, but not knowing her own strength, she's paralyzed two of her playmates, and scared away the rest of them.

"Oliveria Lisa Norton is not an animal.
Oliveria Norton is a human being. Just like you, just like me.
She's a sweet and kind child, and she never did anything wrong, to anyone.
She has a condition. An illness. A disease.
She never had a boyfriend, and she didn't go to this year's field trip.
Oliveria probably won't go to the prom, either.
But oliveria Norton isn't a freak. She's not a monster.

Chuck I think you'll be winning this round. The thing I like the best about you I think is that you seem to be able to do anything with any topic no matter how silly or preposterous. You've proven that numerous times in 3CH of course and you do it again here.

On a side note, and I know this is being a science-infatuated killjoy about the whole thing... but I dont think someone with this kind of advanced liver disease would still be alive, hence no movie or no character. I said this in the discussion thread and I'll say it again. I think we need to get back to basics, or at the very least a little more logic.

    thanks, bud.
about being more logical - i guess you make a good point there.
but sometimes being TOO logical can kinda ruin the fun factor in an activity.
going crazy with our stuff is a BIG part of why most of us are in these things to begin with. and the topics can be as insane and out there as the images.
    and maybe i`m wrong. dunno.

anyways - thanks again for those very kind words, Michael.
    it means alot to me.

Freaky man. That is sweet Chuck. As far as the disease killing her, well, there's no such thing as mechs, dragons, magic, mutant monsters, zombies, or maybe there is, but who cares. If you want more logical realism in your pieces, then it would be sweet if you could pull it off without detracting from the idea/fun. If I had gone that route, this definitely would have been a drawing of some girl on life support in an ICU.
