Hey mate, always wondering when you were going to make a new SB. That first image is nice, and like you said if you added some noise or grit, it would make it even nicer. Can't wait to see what's to come mate. Keep it up, as always.

Fellah: must say im glad you got first post down. youve been a good source of my inspiration (not that you could probably see in my art, but regardless). always a good council. good to do business with you once more mate
Sirio_Brozzi, MadCat: thankyee! your wishes are my command
j a k e: heh thanks man. added the grit as promised. hope you like the update.
blanquish: yup am vis com. send me a PM and let me know who you are, ill bump into you sometime on purpose when next i have a class
[UPDATE] Page#01: heres what will probably be the opening page. gotta get an establishing shot of the scene. as always, i need to be mindful about how things are placed on the page - +/- spaces and contrast are a must. im not sure if i should keep this as a black silhouette, or go a little more detailed.. at the moment ill leave as is, but if i find i need to have that depth then ill come back to it and change things up.
ps. i know its a little cop-out to use the grass/leaf brush in PS, but i have 40+ pages to do.. plus i think they do the job quite nicely (when used in moderation).

Nice update mate. It looks like your 40 pages or so will come along nice
The leaves are a nice touch in moderation (even thought they are a default brush), at adds a good atmosphere. Keep rollin'.

Barts: youre a fool. a silly silly fool. love ya bro!
j a k e, MadCat: thanks lads, your support makes me smile cheesily
[UPDATE] Page#02: this page may or may not be immediately after page 1. i want to convey the notion that im stuck to this ground by way of gravity, and that it doesnt want to give up its hold on me. i didnt want my hair to go upside down with it, so i just figure the viewer is being drawn up by their ankles yet im staying firmly put. the leaves are there as a constant reminder that one can fly.. its just a matter of getting off the ground.
hope you like, as always.

no i dont do vis comm, its a long and funny story really.
At the start of the year I saw your yr 12 pic in the ssabsa(not sure if that the correct word) art show. I picked up your backup folder and saw a whole bunch of posts that you had printed out from ca. SO i checked around and read that you were doing vis comm. A while ago i was interested i doing it, but designy stuff is boring.
ANyway I've got a few more years before uni so Im just keping my choices open.

j a k e: oh heck yes, best song by far. followed closely by Turn Soonest to the Sea. im sure tyler (Barts) would have something to say about that, but he cant because his lunchbox smells
MadCat: then DO IT man! haha dont hold back! if you do ill be sure to check up on your SB and help you along the way
blanquish: ohh yes i remember now. yeh first year vis com is kinda sucky, tho despite my afinity for illustration i am enjoying a lot of the design projects were given. you get to specialise later on in second and third year. im going illustration.
Barts: pancakes make you ill.
[UPDATE] Page #¿?:
sorry for those who may have cared for me to update this. ive been quite the busy boy with other projects. ill try and be a little more consistant. heres the latest humble offering. at the moment im drawing "keyframes" if you will (for those of you familiar with animation terminology) and intend to fill in the gaps once ive got the basic story line plotted out.
this is me in a tree trying to see. yup.
(edit: thanks j a k e, i was going for close up leaves, but given their washed out appearance it wasnt really appropriate - made the changes)

Hey man, i like that page alot. The trees looking really flash.
Probably the best page so far, as far as shapey goodness i think.
Don't you think *maybe* the leaves on the right are a tiny bit big?

I did once design a character by accident while doing a poster in college, he had personality, something i try so hard to get my drawings to have. so i got in inspired and decided to use him, but got home found out i couldn't draw him for shit... lol same with this other character, the best one is always the first, and bam! i can't draw them again.. sigh
Anyway your pic. I like the feel to it, i always love sitting on trees looking and listening. one thing, your skiny emo legs make it look like you have deers legs.. like that music video, where the guy has antlers and the girls dad trys to kill him but gets run over and you see he has deer legs...weird video.. lol
i can't remember the bands name or the song either.. but fix the legs a bit!
I've just been reading 'The skillful huntsman' and its very inspiring, I think i shall start this comic, but make it dark, like broms work, i love his work and i love dark. i'll get working on some characters, i'll tell ya when their done.

MadCat: sounds awesome bro! youll get there eventually. as for the deer legs, those are my feet dangling from my lower legs. you cant see my thighs as theyre blocked by the bough. makes sense when you think of it. if its too weird to look at, ill angle the feet more.

Recursive End: glad you asked. you can appreciate it more at a larger scale. the leaves were painted with your standard textured brush variants. i looked at one picture of a tree, but decided to make it up.
