I aim to put a quick sketch and a longer color one (up to an hour) on here every couple of days. Anyone may crit me. I'm here to learn, just like most of the rest of you.

I couldn't wait. I did this old peach tree with my morning coffee today (50 min.) the other thing is a preliminary charcoal sketch because I'm thinking about doing CHOW 34
My ISP was down for nearly two days. Here's what I have been doing.
This starts with sepia on toned ingres paper through a C-1 calligraphy pen. (then pastels)
I will update that sepia thing tomorrow. Here's a Morganica sketch and a view from Grand Central Market in Los Angeles.
I know, at first it was like "WTF gave Jackson Pollock a calligraphy pen?" But we're very near the end now. (And I toss in a date palm as today's quickie sketch).

I drive to Los Angeles and back on business about twice a month. Sometimes I see something fantastic. I generally make a quick sketch to record the memory when I arrive. I will make four longer sketches of some of these this week.
Today I am doing the launch of a military satellite I saw about half a year ago when I was westbound coming into Indio, CA. The painting took about 1 hour 15 minutes, but in that time I did about half of tomorrow's painting using the extra similar color. (watercolor/gouache)
Your best stuff so far is your pastel stuff, its coming along well. However, if you intend to improve your personal knowledge on anatomy and other aspects..A good start would be Bridgeman or Goldfinger books to do studies from. Otherwise, very loose style, some nice stuff. Keep posting dude.
Thanks. So far I have been primarily a landscape painter, and abstracts. People and critters are where I got my work cut out for me. It's unfortunately not as easy to find nekkid people to draw now that I've moved out to the sticks. I've got to turn to refs.
I was westbound near Needles, CA when I saw a sunset that moved me. Naturally, my efforts to produce "a yellowish blue that is not green" are doomed to failure, but I swear I was not on drugs at the time. I spent about 15 minutes putting pastel on the excess watercolor of this morning when Little Wooden Boy turned uppity. It's been like this ever since i moved away from the apartment with a fireplace. If it goes on much longer, it's military school.
Hey Arttorney, welcome to CA. It's nice that you update your sketchbook so often (unlike me, I'm lazy.) I noticed that many of your lines are a bit hesitating and shaky, maybe you could work on making them bolder and more confident. This way any improvement you woud make on perspective, anatomy or other areas would show more because they would be more accurately represented.
Just my 2 cents...
The one with the words on it is the field sketch for memory recordation purposes. (Second image one hour this morning.) The situation was so intense, violent, and chaotic there was no way I could bust out a french easel and stand there doing a nice leisurely oil. I was amazed the cops were letting us drive by this. My car was completely enveloped in smoke. This will obviously take a couple more iterations before it can rise to the level of a finished piece. There was an awful lot going on here.
I made this last night in ten or fifteen minutes while watching Repo Man and fairly inebriated on single malt. At the time I named it Composition 254, but in the morning's light i've become scared that it's actually a pink pony in a swimsuit.
30 min. today while doing my laundry. The Description or backstory I thought of was "After it became clear his career as a C. Everett Koop impersonator was never going to pan out, he discontinued his medication and sank ever deeper into despair and homelessness."
