i'm down, i'm so down.... the problem is you can't paint in groups and you need to get permission from the basement dwellers. .... and there's only certain days you can actually paint,,,, ie not weekends and fridays or mondays (closed) i think... anyhoot, we can paint outside the museum and gives those tourists a good view!....

but if you can get it set up, i'm down... well, i got work on the weekdays.....

    Wow..they let you rent easels?
I thought all museum people were afraid of you ruining the paintings with your paint!

Hey guys, bringing up an old thread, but I was checking about this stuff for myself and thought I'd post the info. Here's what the MET's website said:

To copy works in the Museum's collection with acrylic or oil paint, you must apply for a permit. Permits are limited in number. To receive an application, call 212-650-2818 and leave your name and mailing address, including zip code, clearly on the voice mail.

I'll be trying to get one for 2004. If anyone's still down, that'd be cool if a few of us could score some. And PM me if you're in the city/boroughs and know someone who needs a roomie or who is getting rid of their apartment.
