medium isn't important, it's practice that makes the differenece, some people can crank out amazing work in ms paint, a program is just a tool and nothing more.

    I feel the same.

But anyways. There is no single tool everyone draws with. Use what you're comfortable with.

I would suggest not using whatever you're writing with.

I don't draw anything, I have a room with 1000 monkeys working on 1000 sketchbooks, and every so often I scan a good page and post it.

the only posible way to crate good art on a PC is to use the newest Photoshop with the most expensive tablett mankind knows
BUT only when the full moon stands over Jerusalem!!! (<--- IMPORTANT)

as an alternativ you can just use traditional media like the exotic "pencil" together with so called "paper" to become good

    my sketchbook
    friends Sketchbooks:Dile_, Stine
my flickr go there if you want to see my photography stuff

You didn't ask what everybody's favourite was... you asked what was the best. There is no best! Personally I use pencils, pens and photoshop.. that's just what I like. It's what works for me, but somebody else will do incredible works with charcoal, conte and Painter. I've done some surprisingly decent drawing with a twig dipped in india ink.

You'll find a lot of people draw by hand and scan. Some people draw directly onto the computer. Some people *gasp* don't use computers at all. Just do art and you'll find out what you like best. There is no wrong approach in this area (just don't let us catch you using a lens flare).

Art is long and time is fleeting

*slaps you on the head with a rose* why are you asking.. all these questions..
why do you really want to know. seriously? just grab a sketchbook a pencil and just draw. geezus.. no tool, will make you become "THE SUPER DUPER ARTIST" your got to work your butt off..
yeah using graphic programs is great and all
but its pointless if you dont know how to do things correctly on peice of paper.

So you don't feel like a shithead that everybody's jukin'...here's an honest answer...pick one and try it. I use all of 'em.

Graphite pencils, all grades and degrees.
    Mechanical pencils
    Leroys.
    Rapidographs and similar.
About 20 different types of fine-point marker.
    Litho Crayon.
    Litho Pencil
Prisma colors and about five other brands
    Oil pastels
    Crayolas
    Wolf pencils
    Conte Crayon
    Charcoal
    Pastels
    An Xacto Knife

If using ink or other water media, I use:

    Drafting pens
    Calligraphy pens
    Bamboo pens
    Sumi brushes
    Lining Brushes
Fine point rounds to 4" cheap bristle house painting brushes
    Sponges
    Tampons
    Cigarette filters
    Pipe cleaners
    My fingers
    String
    Credit Cards
    Long hollow glass tubes
About 20 different types of pen point in a holder
    Hypodermic Syringes
    Long strips of cloth
The cut and splayed ends of sisal and cotton rope
    a pissed off cat's tail
    My shoe strings
My own hair tied to a dowel rod.

    On the computer:

    Photoshop (5.x to CS2)
    Illustrator (1.3 to CS2)
    Scanned pencil and pallpoint pen
pieces of torn paper (for the edges)
    Fontographer

You didn't ask about painting, so I won't go into that. Neither one of us has time for it, either...
