monkeyoakum, c@s, mysociallink, snobbyoo, peter berkovski, camara, metal-mike, thegnoll, lilnebo, archipelago: thank you very much for the encouragement
aedman: thanks Well, I think it's not really so specific to digital painting improving, so much as just learning fundamentals. I've just been focusing on values, edges, and then color more recently...and I think that transcends the mediums. Like Nerahla said, I've learned most of what I know though value and color studies. I think value is like 2/3 of color. Digital painting has some tricks, but more often than not, I think it has more to do with fundamental knowledge. Values, edges, light, color... It's all really important stuff that I'm still trying to figure out I just use a basic round brush with pressure set to opacity and flow, spacing set to 1, and a minimum diameter of 70%. Maybe one day I'll start to use texture brushes :<
    Nerahla: hehe values! thanks
chupacabra: thanks for stopping by, I've been following your sketchbook/ff posts for a while now
yoitisi: thanks, you have no idea how much I appreciate you taking the time to give me crits like this. I tried to fix some of the things [not much tho] punched out some contrast, mostly. tried to bring the head into the body, and add an extra band on the collar to attract more attention to the face.
tooled: INSERT COIN TO CONTINUE! ...hrm my pocket maybe nyuk nyuk nyuk...actually on second thought that could get awkward really quickly. yeah, my monitor on this 5 year old laptop kind of desaturates everything, so I often find myself in nuclear waters with color when I'm not careful.
Hyver: lol less diablo. thanks for stopping by
    Hive_minD: slack? *cough*
monkeyoakum: beauty comes from symmetry. You probably just notice the symmetry problems less on the guys because you're not interested in making them attractive
...I used to have a link somewhere about what makes feminine girls look feminine...if I can find it I'll let you know.
risingfromashes: 10k pages lol I'm glad you enjoyed yourself Yeah, that plastic look is something I really need to be careful of :<
natethegrate: I'm in brussel now, but I don't think I have time to invite anyone over :< I've been out and about for the last month. lololol saftsack
D@niel: hrmm...glowing? yeah that could potentially be a rendering problem :<
MorteM: doood this one is for you
    scrahn: scrahn is pr0n
jedininjaman: nah your comment isn't lost. I really appreciate it
    scrahn: :asspatt:
    TOOLED!: dood. I er...*cough* right here? :<
D@niel: YARRR!! Hopefully It made sense :/
    Peter Berkovski: Uhmmm....soonish?
steve kim: yes all 2 of them. I kind of had this idea about humans evolving differently into a more monkey-like race...and I was playing with those proportions :<
Aveh: Well with the muscle strain thing...Basically not exercising and getting bogged down with schoolwork and blahblahblah is really bad for you. I ended up having to push myself a lot harder than I wanted to, and had an exhibition in stuttgart doing live digital painting. So I was doing live digi painting for 4 some odd hours...and it was really hurting my arm. I ended up with a bruise (2x3 inches) on my forearm from where the pain had slowly been building up...and that scared the shit out of me...so I didn't use my drawing arm for a week to do anything. After it started to feel better, I've been able to keep it in check with pullups and pushups. I think the problem stems from my shoulders getting too tight, and then the rest of the arm just tightens up. So long story short: bad ergonomics+no exercise is bad for you.

Well, since my last update...I erm changed countries...and then went on vacation for 2 weeks in southern france, and then the last week I've just been bumming around exploring brussels, and done some doodling here and there while procrastinating doing studies. I did a lot of opening up photoshop, doodling and then erasing/not saving whatever...so there's really not much to show. But that stuff was shite anyway, so I don't feel bad about not saving it Anyhow I decided to try to push my brain and see how far I could go without using any reference...and and see what areas I need to work on the most. Turns out I need to work on...everything.

So a slightly reworked moke, doodles, and some new rendered chars...oh and a detail shot of the tentacle guy.

    Heya Texacheese,

Just a few crits of the coloured girl. Her head feels a bit small. her arms look a bit short compared to her waist. Her ass looks like it should be attached to a horse and her crotch looks weird to me, like there is too much space between her legs. She looks very uncomfortable standing with her ass sticking out like that(or maybe the way -her- left leg attaches to her hips). I like her legs and all you colours are great and striking.

I'm glad you're updating, unlike myself. Keep it up, emoface.

Wow, sucks that you went through that but glad its clearing up it sounds.
Yeah I know all too well the open, delete, close process. Good doodles and stuff, hopefully you take a few to a rendered state?

You did any more flash stuff?

oh just remembered quick crit; Don't ya think the white background thing is gettin to be comfort zone-y. The last couple pages all the characters youve painted have been done with that. A new "atmosphere" to put them in could give you some new things to play with?
