Nellin:thanks dude, i´m sure you will
be better, keep up the good progress

    >>>

ok so update on the final illo
gotta work on the edges, specially
on the surroundings or left part,
add some of that moss texture on the body
and maybe also on the rock, design the enemy
at the bottom and just more general work
    around the fungus man

also gotta work on giving highligts to the parts
i wanna send front some more and tone down
the ones i want to recede, make some more
lost edges here and there . . this thing is way smaller
im worried it looks alright at this size
    but at 1000 x 1000 which is
the entry size . . . dunno might look crappy
and not much time left :-S

looking awsome man. really like the color composition you chose.
given that you don't have much time left i'd say only focus on details around the main character and possibly start adding more interest to the interaction between him and the foe. Given that everything looks like it's made of rock you could probably make a rather convincing environment pretty quickly.
keep it up. really rooting for ya!

    GusTheRobot: thanks dude :-D
i will keep on working hard on it
    i appreciatte your support

    >>>

worked some more on the illo
redid the rocks again, did the details
on the fungus man, like shoulder leaf
and some moss texture, expanded the
canvas to give more air and played
around the shape of the vine.

still need to tweak some values
and get working on those edges
. . . not to mention the colors
need some rework too, lots of tweaks here
and there, gotta describe those lost volumes
    on the main character also

    Idiot Apathy:thanks Tom

    >>>

more work on the illo, added some
texture and detail here and there,
worked some of the contrast and now
i just need to zoom in and fix little details,
overlaps so then i can make some lost edges
on the contour and do the magic spores particles
and rim light on the fungus man . . . it´s getting there :-)

The final illustration has some nice Gabo-colors and brushstrokes in there

One thing though, the foreground and especially the figure he's pulling up don't work for me. The anatomy of the figure is a bit unclear (is that it's head, how is it's arm bend and where is the hand), which are mainly caused because I miss some recognizable features like eyes or mouth. Also, the difference in color/contrast of the branch versus victim is a bit abrubt. I'd expect it to be a bit bigger too (foreground) and darker, or a cast shadow on the rock the main character is standing on.

That said, I think this'll end up high in the contest. Keep it coming

yoitisi:alright, i tried to rescue som of the shapes of
the enemy below, thanks for the feedback :-D

    ok so far
    modelsheet 90% done,
    just need to rearrange stuff
and remove the color and make it grayscale

final illo done just need to choose
a better font and arrangement of entry info
need to start on the concept sheet, so
probably would just grab all sketches and finish it that way

    . . . .almost there

dang. some package you got there.
i can't see anything missing. seems to explain everything pretty completely.
witnessing the entire process up until this point was rather impressive

my only crit is the vine in the final illio doesn't have the same vine texture that the one in the model sheet does.
just that little bit of extra texture in the final illio would really pull everything together i think.

awesome work man. silly rooting for ya!

Yep that is way cool right there

I agree with GusTheRobot, the texture on the vine could be a bit stronger. It would connect the character a bit more with his victim, makes it read a bit better without drawing too much attention away from the main character. Also, a few more cast shadows on the victim and especially the vines around its neck would really help to explain it a bit better still, as the vine around its neck blends a bit with the victim right now.

Anyway, it was great seeing the whole process, thanks a lot for showing it all
