    again just shapes and angles,
specially on legs is a key
    to show direction . . .
a little mo rendering than last one

    . . . . for raising geekiness level
    meanwhile doing robots . .
helps to listen to some of the SRW OSTs
    or the JAM project

man that super robot wars game is addictive

    . . . whatever . .
    heres a lunch sketch,
design the plane from top since is easy silhouette,
then construct and render of course again
    sacrifice color and ... environment
    for speed,, lunch doodle

some mo time on this one,
most of it on the design :-P
    worried about showing some
form since all of it was plain planes
so again i trashed the color decisions

all background was black and edges
where lost in a nice way

    but

i wanted the silhouette to come out
so went for a more design way of showing
this machine, so im not comfortable
with the results of some edges
since they facing the light and have
    a strong dark outline . . . oh well

is been a while since i did some of these
kinda looked at it in a different
way since doing so much cube robots crap
just sit back , some good progrock camel music
and draw thinking but not too critic
just wondering , how would i do this
wishout the reference and make it look decent
how can i apply to those quick sketches . .

it was fun and relaxing ^__^

robogabo - Daily Robo sketches & Mo

now back to my addiction, super robot wars,
gotta get that hi nu gundam and mazinkaizer pld:

    having the john watkiss book
    and doing some catalogue
and also mixing some non references
on each page, keeping it really fast
    some with understructure some
without it , trying to follow
    Ron Lemen advice

how would i approach this without ref
always asking that, how can i keep it
fresh but strong and structured or solid

how can when i use reference looks
good and without it looks flat and NONCREATIVE
specially the way lines travel, gotta ask
all those questions, do difficult angles
with clothing is a good challenge

try not to mirror my every line , example
neck and arms, that makes it look flat

did a bunch of this today ... kinda lazy
of scanning all of them . . wanna play
    robot wars

    well doing top view
then of a semi front angle
    is really hard, specially
if you not doing your character
flying wich is the most common case around

    i wasnt comfortable with yesterdays
    post it was awful. . anyway . . .

making it stand on ground is difficult
so i spend a lot of time than usual
still is a crappy sketch.... constructing
    the mecha maintaining some
    proportions and angles of extremities
    very important

    first line then flat color
    for silhouette, then render, then
    details and floor and background

i left the linework cause i wanted
to finish it, main purpouse was do a
semi front top view, ofcourse the linework
facing the lightsource really messes the whole
    thing but o well . . .

    flying hovering tank trip

i think i could had arranged
the background color blobs in a
way that wiould had shown more depth
from a big to small stroke width i think . . oh well

    fo tuday
    some noref figs
    doing a quick blob of
structure on the back, bold big strokes
    helping define somehow the silhouette
then just dark outline on top
    is a lot of fun

more loose non reference , different approach on
rendering, just like 3 big strokes on each to depict
lighting then smaller blobs, but more like swaps
quick fading strokes then draw the figure on top
is really fun and helps to depict the big masses

going for some subtle gradients that show form
against strong almost graphic 1 value contrasts
constrains of values also and starting with the silhouette
not worrying about the inside but just silhouette blob
