Arrow ANOTHER website update?! Please critique!

Yup, I've updated my website too. Seems like a good summertime thing to do.

    http://www.everythinggoodwastaken.com

I ditched 3 ideas and went with this one. So tell me what you think, and if you see any mistakes, let me know! Thanks for your input.

    hey ursula,

    i like the design.
    especially the splash page.

    a few crits:
your portrait of atari is nice, but completely out of keeping with the rest of the site.
    i would ditch it.
put it on your pet-portrait site instead.

    buy art:
    should be "buy prints".
you write: "These paintings are available for purchase through cafepress.com. Each is 16" x 20..."
but they arent, the reproductions are.

    information:
    the title sounds misleading.
i would expect this to be a bio.
maybe "booking" or "commissions" would be more appropriate.

i know payment is a personal issue,
but in illustration at least, the 50% upfront thing will never happen.
you may want to specify that this policy is for private commissions.

i assume you know your life sketches are dead links right now?
which bring me to another point...
    too much work.

some of your old work is really good, some isnt.
dont put EVERYTHING in there...it brings down the average.
put only pieces that represent the sort of work you want to do NOW.
and even then, limit the number.
you've got twice as many sketches as you have finished pieces.
    thats not necessary.
narrow it down to say, 12.
    quality, not quantity.

all in all, it looks sharp.
    keep it up

Thanks so much for taking the time, Dan! Now that's the kind of honesty I dig!

hey ursula, I like the color scheme and the general set up of the site, looks good... one thing I would suggest is to make the content frame much taller, right now it seems unnecessarily squished on my 1280x1024 monitor.. I think it would be relatively easy to change, as the width seems fine- changing the height wouldnt hurt the functionality of your site on lower resolution setups. Hope that makes sense, cool stuff!

Agreed with Cotron, the height of the content frame really should be taller - very good points from Dan too. I think they covered pretty much everything I would have.

I really like the domain name too

Cool. Thanks so much, guys! I've printed out your suggestions and am making myself a to-do list.

I'll spend the next couple of days updating / re-organizing / whatevering...

Urs, that is MUCH better in my opinion. I agree with cotron, also... but the site itself, I like alot.
