Trouble installing 9.5 patch for Windows Version

I downloaded the patch and the site said to have Painter 9.1 open while doing it. I did and it would not install. Any tips on installing this puppy?

You need to have Painter 9.1 installed, but Painter should be closed (not running) when you are upgrading to 9.5. The site's term of "using Painter 9.1" is a little misleading.

I held the shift key when starting 9.1 to set back to defualt. When I download the update it keeps wanting to open in PaintShop Pro7. I tried finding a program to install the 9.5 update but I don't really know what to look for.

I'd just download the "free trial" of Painter IX and install that instead of trying to patch up 9.1. The "free trial" is really the 9.5 full application with a demo timer on it and it will ask you for your S/N on launch...
