Thanks for stopping by my SB and commenting, I really appreciate it. I especially appreciate your crits and comments, they're very helpful and I always take people's advice to heart because I want to get better and better ^_^ So Thank you very, very much
The anatomy is lacking in the tiger and the dudes arms and wrist gestures i think. it just looks awkward. i like that idea and the feel to it though. keep messing with it with some reference.
I've got a prototype of my new portfolio site up and running here
check it out and tell me your opinions
I've also been wondering about the url- should I use www.artofjokinen.com or www.juhanijokinen.com. Which one do you prefer? I'm a bit concerned that my name is hard to remember by anyone coming from the english speaking world.
You can also follow my art on twitter from now on.
Here's a sketch for a painting I've been planning for a very long time. It's about the swan of tuonela. The mythology comes from the Finnish national epic Kalevala.
If you are not familiar with it view this:
Just something to decorate my wall with someday.
Thanks for stopping by my Sketchbook.
Love the swan ... some gorgeous stuff in here, seriously! Keep it up and take care
You have an interesting coloring style. For half an hour I'm looking at your digital paintings, checking how its done
The tiger looks great although I'm sure about the symmetrical composition.
I also like this sketch http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1270040148
If you post more like that I would definitely return.
Everything looks so cool! Keep it up and keep posting. Very inspiring.
Your lines pieces is beautiful so far. It looks very elegant, perfect for the swan. Can I ask, how do you decide which projects to and when?
Im sorry, I may be being stupid, but why the black line down the middle of the swan pic?
I love it anyways!
sick sketchbook man
Thanks man for stopping by at my sketchbook, especially for the tips! I love your animals, the color palette is very nice! only thing bothering me is with the one with the samurai and the tiger, there are some tangents between the helmet and the tigers mouth-nose region... keep it up!
wilkerson: Thanks! I'll definitely post more character design stuff in the future. Currently trying to focus on my personal illustration work- I get to do quite a lot stuff like that at work
Ivan Turcin: Thanks mate There's really nothing special in my coloring style..
Lav: Thank you!
Kaztx : Thank you
Norris : Thanks a lot! As for the black line, I've been inspired lately by old japanese multipanel artwork and I decided to try to apply that here Not sure if I'll keep it there though...
CecelyV: thanks! Sorry but what do you mean by that? My personal projects or commericial ones? I didin't quite get your question
Ostroponis: Thanks mate!
Maeshanne: Thank you!
Parsakoira: Thanks mate! Yeah there are still some probelms with that image, hopefully I can find the time to finish it soon.. Really digging your sb too. Some good progress happening there
Hello ^_^ I meant for your personal work. I wondered because as I work through my own projects, I find it's not always easy to know what to do next--or sometimes I find that I'm attempting something that requires some skill or practice (say in perspective or anatomy) that I still need to work on first. So it made me wonder how you decide what you're going to create when you sit down to do a personal work.
Really loving your moleskin work...moleskin is the paper, yes? Sorry, this is the first time I've heard of it
www.juhanijokinen.com-- it seems it'd be more quickly and easily recognizable to anyone who's familiar with your work from here on CA.
How are you liking Twitter? It seems like a good way to promote your work, but...it also seems like you'd get a bunch of random people trolling around dropping unnecessary negativity.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of your work on your site. Did you put it up yourself, or hire someone do it?
CecelyV: Thanks for the compliments My personal projects are really rare these days since I paint so much at work every day. However those few ideas for my personal work are developed during a long period of time. Good example is that Tuonela Swan image- I've been thinking about doing a series of paintings about Kalevala for almost a year now and that's the first one that I've got down on paper When I get a proper home studio set up I'll probably do more personal work- until then I'll try and finish these
and oh, btw moleskine is the brand of the sketchbooks I use. A bit overpriced in my opinion but the paper quality is really nice and it can handle almost any kind of media.
I created my site with squarespace which is an awesome publishing platform- I didn't write a line of code for the site but had really much freedom in designing it. Check it out at squarespace.com- It's a bit hard to explain really And oh, I'll definitely add more work soon.
I've found twitter useful mostly in following what other people in this industry are up to. Good way to stay on top of things
I hope my incoherent ramblings answered some of your questions.
Yes, you answered all the questions I had, Thanks!
If you need ideas on your home studio set up, let me know. I can send you pictures and links from my home studio if you need ideas.
Thanks for explaining about Moleskin ^_^ I'll definitely check out squarespace.com. I'll need to look into starting my own website once I get a good amount of finished character designs, so I really appreciate the referral ^_^
That's a great idea, using Twitter to follow other artists in the Industry and stay up to date! I think I'll do the same, if you don't mind me copying you
Thanks again for stopping by my SB, I really appreciate it. Feel free to message me anytime if you need any help with anything, or you just want to chat or bounce ideas around ^_^ I look forward to seeing more of your Tuonela Swan ^_^
Trine 2 teaser trailer released! I made the painting in the very beginning of the trailer. View it here:
Here's one of the promo images I made for the project. A truckload more images to come!
Hello, you have some beautiful work in here, I love all of your enviroments and moleskines.
