Does anybody remember this character from a lognt ime ago. I cant remember his user names which is why I'm asking. But, this kid had serious problems. He would post artwork that looked like a 8 year old dit it, but he says he' been practicing for 20 years or so. Last i remember he was making threats to people and his own life. He was always getting depressed and putting himself down. There was even a massive search to find out where he was from at one point. The moderators might remember him.

When I use to be on here a while back he left me a message in sketchbook saying something like " Oh you got a long way to go, keep trying. I've been trying my whole life and I'm not getting anywhere.

    etc etc

Also to add this kid had the most replies I've ever seen in a sketchbook. The replys were VERY long, and everyone was trying to help him out. It's like people focused on him more during that time than any other sketch book.

I think he had about a dozen equally crazy aliases so a search will likely throw out all sorts of comedy gold..

Yeah, I debated posting his sketchbook here before, but I find him a lot more sad than funny. I thought it would probably just be a downer to the thread.

    He was a strange character.

This is like one of those things that you know you shouldn't laugh at, but you do.

The threads make me giggle and cry at the same time.

OK, I may still be toasty from the proximity of this particular bonfire, but I really think Odayga has surpassed Manky as a CA episode.

Unfortunately, her user name doesn't lend itself as well to verb-ization ("You're odaygaing" doesn't ring like "You've mankied all over yourself").

    Odayga.. odayga... you know...
the name Odayga is suspiciously a lot like the swedish word: Odaga.

Which means: "Person who is good for absolutely nothing".

Downer? I dunno... when I see stuff like that I can't help but think of Denis Leary "Make sure you get your whole head in front of the shotgun... thanks for calling!"

I think this deserves to be here. I know he's joking, but I think it's a record for being locked the fastest.

Definitely. The manky episode wasn't really that big of a thing when it happened. Manky has risen to the legendary status he has purely through the sheer iconic gradiosity of Insect Battle. It was the perfect symbol for us to latch onto and blow him into absurd proportions.

Although Odayga made a much bigger splash, she didn't leave behind anything iconic, so we'll probably forget her long before manky.

AHAHAHA seriously this guy is my hero. That is the funniest thing I have ever seen.

I don't surf the forums too much so I don't know about all these threads that you people remember with such fondness... but I think you're being hard on some of them. Except for the dickfaces that rip other people's stuff of course.

It seems like everyone here is expecting some crazy shit from a professional artist when there are a bunch of kids and whatnot just starting out who are looking for advice and don't really have the maturity to take criticism.

Anyway here is my submission to this thread :
    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=71140

BTW I think suicide-depression guy wasn't all that bad at drawing...

This thread is cracking me up. People are WAY too sensitive and dellusional, like have issues. Anyway, I'm new here and I registered 'cause I noticed the great art here and the basically free education. So I came to learn, I've already read EVERYTHING at the CA-WIKIPEDIA thing here. So to see all these "Worst Threads" makes me laugh 'cause half the people in them needed to chill the fuck out and just listen to the people here that are trying to teach them and help.

Another thing I notice is that people need to STOP claiming to be painters, artists, and stuff like that. I notice that EVERYONE on the internet with some pictures up wants to claim to be a professional or give themselves those titles. I don't think that is a good idea. Just say, "I like drawing," "I draw," or just something like that. The same with internet music producers, everyone wants to claim they are a producer because they put some sounds together on FruityLoops or Apple's Garageband music software.

Anyway, this was very funny, mostly the kid who felt that art should be considered art even when it is crappy. Just listen to responses and opinions and you will know if people are enjoying your stuff. If you don't care if others like it, then why are you posting it here? Keep it to yourself and visit your personal shrine each day.

What I learned from this thread as a NOOB here is that this is my kind of place. A place where I won't be lied to about whether my work is shitty or not. 'Cause people here who are pros at this don't really have the time to sit here and lie to noobs about whether their work looks good. I know I got the creativity, but I don't have that technical knowledge, so I hope to supplement my studies with this (I am not in art school).

Secondly, I think every new user here should read this thread, it should be stickied. 'Cause they will see how it looks to be a blind, non-listening, non-taking advice, self-absorbed, and dellusional wanna-be artist.

The real link in most of these delightful episodes is the perpetrator's unwillingness to unhitch his ego from his art.

There are also some undercurrents of "I can't produce good art, so I want you to accept the best I can do". It's unfortunate, because the brain can be expanded in all sorts of ways. Just because someone can't do a particular task right now, doesn't mean it can't happen in the future.

    So, so sad.

    Isobel,

Visit some of the other threads in the WIP and CC sections.
You'll see how nice and helpful we are to people who want to learn and have good attitudes.

If this is you, you have nothing to worry about.

Isobel, never be afraid to stand up and "say something." Yes, people here can be hard, but the best of them know just how hard to be to make a point that actually helps someone else see a problem they may not recognize. As for those who are "hard" just because they can be...well...they're assholes...and trust me...THEY sometimes NEED offended.... When your head/ego gets so big you start to lose consciousness from the rarified air, jumping off a cliff into a nice warm pile of pig shit actually starts to sound like a good way to fly...

All that aside, there are definately some good reads in here. Maybe we should rate these threads and rate them according to whose is worst/funniest. Make like a top 100 or something. My two cents.

EDIT: WE really should sticky this thread to the lounge so the people who gave up their dignity for our amusment aren't forgotten.
