Oh my gosh!! I just went back and read the last 2.5 pages from TArnell's WIP thread... How did I miss those!? It was amazing!

    My Sketchbook

And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.

He could have kept going with those paragraphs and it wouldnt have been a response but a short novel.

Its funny to think about it because theres like a hundred times during the writing of something like that where someone might go "hey, maybe i should calm my ass down a bit" before pressing the submit button. That dudes butt really must have been hurting

    How did I miss that?

TASMITH: the lamp post to which offends you I say "phhht", layout and design school will allow you to understand it (its a liberty we artist take from time to time, but the only one I have taken in this piece) I do love your layout and pointers as it may help someone, but you have raised all the points I wanted raised by the viewer...it drew you in! Read the book! None of the images are borrowed or created from ref material....What kind of an idiot do you take me for, hanging crystal full of stove fuel out on the public street in a time when they were told let them eat cake?
    This is amazing. Oh man.

Its not finished so there are no fluid lines in/on it yet....Learn about slush casting (in this case brown ) glass....and you'll understand why its that shape! A little education goes a long way. Plague doctors didn't dress like this in that time period as someone pointed out earlier but at least you get would get that its part of the issue in the story and at the begining of the story they did...... What makes you think its magical, most every element exists, the castle is made up but based on my knowledge and expirience with stone work and construction....Atmospheric perspective? why didn't you just say smog (that's kind of a new invention and didn't exist then as much as it does today)..

Whoever bumped this thread and made it show up in my "new posts" feed, I officially hate you. I got work to do, damnit! They are pretty lenient about what we do in between jobs, but sitting, reading this thread for the best part of the day is a bit over the top, I was told.

    Haha, this is brilliant

Blog - Check it out. It's fun.

Sketchbook - I should really update more often.

Portfolio - The most fun of them all.

Just for the record even if there wasn't smoke from everyone burning wood (which there would have been), trees give off isoprene which helps create the bluish haze you see in places like the Blueridge Mountains and Smoky Mountains.
What a tool that guy is.

Yes, I was sitting on a hill yesterday overlooking the river valley and even though trees hid everything from sight (including most of the river) you could tell where the designated parks were by the bluish haze rising up from everybody grilling their weenies over a wood fire. It was pretty funny.

Also Rayleigh scattering sunlight scattered by the small particles in the atmosphere, like pollen, gas molecules, volcanic ash give the sky and light from distant objects a blue look..

i think oxygen is actually blue too, but i doubt that effect is much to do with distance blueing.

Just FYI I think dpaint knew that and was just explaining that on top of that there could be a sort of "natural fog" that could increase the effect in the mentioned areas.

    Just looked at that thread.

What the hell was that pic portraying?

    It would seem so.

I still don't know if that guy in the "Artist today are better then artist back then derp" thread is a troll or not.

This was both amusing... and painful... Good god, it reminds me of my art classes in highschool... and now in uni...

... I need to go introduce my forehead to a brick wall I think... Those threads were quite painful!

    Thanks for the laughs.
