a caravan and a steampowered man

    Hi Freaks,

i´ve been drawing this whole week and i want you show two of that work, done it that week. (my hand is bleeding )

First one ist a layout element for an RPG Book "Opus Anima", and shows Grohim´s caravan out of mechanical walkers and some guards.

The second one is a steammachine powered man, also a layout element for that book.

    C&C welcome

    best Felix

ok let me be the first to say..... nice style... I like both of them...
however, the man at the bottom left of the first pic... looks a little off perspective...or maybe he is standing on a lower ground...

    Anyway... overall, your pics rocks....

really cool style. it reminds me of a western styled version of battle angel alita.

i think the second one would be much more interesting if the guy's head was swiveled so his face was atleast partially toward the viewer. plus, considering how steampunked up his body is, it'd give you a chance to draw mechanical accents on his face and eyes. woohoooo

What medium, or mediums, are you using?
I think I see some marker work going on... am I right? Or is that Painter w/ a marker style brush?

Great work by the way. Love it.

I use markers and ink, with gouache on normal paper (marker paper).

First step is pencil, than rough inking, marker, finish ink and then gouache vor Highlights und Lights.

Great stuff man! I love the style! That guy with the gun and the steam-powered spider leg backpack in the first picture is awesome.

I'm such a sucker for steampunk.

...and if you're not German I just said:

Are you German? I noticed the "und" in your response. I was born in Landstuhl, Germany. And thank you very much for the response about your process and the art supplies you use.

    Thumbs up

The steampowered artwork is fascinating! Very creative and very good use of different strokes and line weights between the detailed elements and the smoke/background elements. I know you mentioned that this is a layout element for a book, so I assume the dead space is for copy at some point. That in mind, I think one/some small elements in the upper left portion of this piece would help balance it out. Nothing detailed, but perhaps some use much like that of your smoke/smog and background elements?

I rly like your technique to create those
it gives your artwork the dirty feel of the steampunk genre
