Got some good stuff going on, especially in the life studies.
One thing I've noticed is that your life work is much stronger in form, structure and confidence than your imagination and digital work. Keep pushing those areas and using what you're learning in your life studies!
SirGreenSock - Thanks, there's a definite difference from my life drawings to my other stuff. I'm struggling a lot to get my ideas looking right on paper at the mo but hopefully the life drawing will start helping with that too !
Small update, dsg1092 - DRENCHED SLAVE CREATURE HOLDS CANOPY OVER OWNER IN DOWNPOUR.
used ref for the rickshaw...

a few random faces...
and some quick sketches of a friends cats, which decided to move about as soon as I started drawing them !

Last edited by mrdigs; June 5th, 2008 at 03:01 AM.
and for the sake of honesty, i'll post my attempts at dsg1096 - DSG 1096 'GLIDER-MAN HAS GREAT EXPANSE OF WEBBING BETWEEN ARMS AND LEGS'.
i had a couple of goes at this one...the first was a bit of a disaster !
i tried to throw in some buildings...ish.

I will be posting something other than DSG's soon !...ahem...hopefully...
DSG 1097: GIRL HAS TINY ALIENS THAT LIVE IN THE FLESH OF HER HAND
I decided to draw them leaving...um, the young girl is strangely un-phased by this...
some more dsg's...feel like i've gone a bit downhill in the last week or so - i'm struggling with how to draw pretty much everything...hmph.
and another go at the same one...
Last edited by mrdigs; June 5th, 2008 at 03:08 AM.
went out today and tried to paint the goblin character i posted here a while back...haven't picked up a can of spraypaint for months !
came out ok i think, mebbe a bit soft, like some hard edges here and there would've worked better but hey...it's done now.

painted another character - from an older sketch...
and another dsg.
Last edited by mrdigs; June 5th, 2008 at 03:10 AM.
another dsg, sketch and colour...need to think more about my colouring...everything looks flat and unrealistic - although a lot of the realism problem is down to my cartoony lines i think !
Last edited by mrdigs; June 5th, 2008 at 03:11 AM.
some more dsg's - had a couple of goes at colouring the second one...
and a sketchbook page...plus a random doodle...

I like your re-coloured Barncle man, good stuff
It's not easy being green
Thanks tin tin - i'm trying to paint a bit more with photoshop rather than just laying down flat colours, might continue to work on that one and add some background if i get time...
i've tweaked it a little...a VERY little...
coloured this one...if a little too quickly.
and did a couple more dsg's...

Hey, a fellow oil painter! Howdy!
Keep up the good life-drawing!
I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

and a couple more sketches - i'm trying to experiment a bit more in my sketchbook and be a bit less worried about producing something finished but it's proving to be a bit of a struggle !

small update - quick marker life drawing, and some more post-it note stuff I did for college.
Last edited by mrdigs; June 6th, 2008 at 02:57 AM.
thanks rmore, should be some more life drawings on the way soon - i hope !
here's a few recent bits from college, a couple of speed paintings of shoes - we had to do one using thinned paint and one using it straight out the tube, about 30 minutes each.
the thinned one
the thick one
plus some tiny compositional sketches and paintings i did which went on to become the bigger piece at the bottom.
not sure if this is finished yet, i'm trying to keep things a bit looser and quicker and i noticed i'd started to get a bit fussy by the time i was painting the spraycan so it might have to stay how it is. acrylic on paper.
