Dig the shapes in that life drawing, really nice. And the still life is coming along, too. It feels very light right now, course it would, being on a white sheet an all, but take a look and see if the top of that book is really the same value as the sheet, and see if the shadow on the book is really the same value as the shadow on the sheet. Those things can be boring but they help!

Heres an update...I think the camera flash washes out some of the values.

Your loomis stuff is inspiring. Don`t forget to train you imagination as well
skill w/o imagination can be pretty dry stuff.

    Hey rblitz

Thought I'd stop by and return the favor. I like what I see! Definitely am loving the life drawings. I noticed a few comments about smudging - if you want, try getting some Krylon (or any brand, really) Workable Fix and spray it in layers. This technique works well if you're working on larger pieces with a lot of time involved- you just have to keep in mind once you spray, you can't go back - you can only add.

I would love to see a nice figure drawing with a really full range of values - I think you could do it!

Pretty good life drawings, good proportions and rhythm. Crits: It's difficult to be sure but the ellipse on that cup holding the pencils looks off. Maybe it did look like that in real life, maybe not. Go over perspective again if you haven't, specifically circles. Scott Robertson has a good perspective dvd on the gnomon website. The other thing is that sometimes the rendering doesn't read as light and shade but as smudges. This one reads okay http://img309.imageshack.us/img309/2715/6uo9.jpg. This one not so much http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/3530/noses8is.jpg. The thing to remember is that the lighting should describe specific types of forms: round, angular, or somewhere in between. Found this link in "Finearts, studies..." http://basangpanaginip.blogspot.com/...downloads.html. The most important ones to download are the Villpu Drawing Manual, and Wir Zeichnen den Menschen.
