Weirdo girls, beware nuditi, color upd!

Sketches for a personal project. I'm kinda entertaining the idea of trying to do a pinup book.

I would love to hear any feedback!

Well I must say I like the linework a lot, the ideas are nice from what I can see.
Can't really add much at this stage, so I'll wait for you to flesh out your designs a little more.

Cheers.

So far, very cool.

However, if you want a pin up look, there needs to be much more calm innocence (and secret sensuality) involved. Fuller bodies, wide, soft hips, and specific hair. Remember the 50's.

evildisco: I'll keep posting when there is progress.

EffingAmazing: Thanks! But surely there must be room for more than one style? I mean I don't think the world need another Vargas or Elvgren.

Infinit: Something like that. Destiny, death, chaos, war and sun was the starting ideas. I don't really know where to continue. They're fantasy goddesses so anything goes. I'm counting on that I'll will do sketches in a lot higher pace than finished ones, so there is time to figure out the rest. I've begun painting death btw.

Pin-up *is* a style. It is a style based on era. Pin-up began with the actual photos of the women, and then became paintings. When you paint pin-up girls, you aren't copying a style of painting. You are mimicking the original pin-up photos.

EffingAmazing: I stand corrected. It won't be a pinup book. It will be a erotically themed/softcore fantasy artbook. :-)

Nixon: Hopefully you will. Just very slowly...

twistedink13: Thanks!

John_the_One: One can't go wrong with full frontal nudity right?

So here is update: Cropped some and changed some. Perhaps 25% done. Very worried that it looks so totally different on my different screens.. Thinking perhaps I should do it in landscape format rather than portrait. Thoughts?

very nice my friend. Very well executed.
Her legs are really good. But the best part is the face and torso. Well worked.
One crit, the ghosts and the horses aren't quite appeling, the horses atleast the one in the back almost looks like an giraf. I guess you aren't by a long way finished. But I know you can do better on them, and you will do better on them
The landscape idea sounds kewl. Keep it minemalistic though. Less is more, right?

By the way! This might be a really though one, couldn't you make the hood transparent. So we can just get an hint of the underlying half of the face. Just a thought.

Hugs!

Damn man... those kick so much ass... but I will say this... that last picture looked realy kick ass except that everything behind the realy hot chick looked it was made out of paper and just put there... maybe that was your intention since it focuses the picture more in the realy hot chick... by the way that lamp she is holding is amazing... I wish I had one of those...

Your sketches are very nicely done, the line work is definitely impressive. You have a lot of talent, but the proportions are wrong. Granted you could be doing that purposely (Like they do in Anime, and other genre's) It's still excellently executed, and the painting - your painting is nine times better then the sketchings themselves so I have to say wow.

As for doing a "pin up book" you're style isn't really pin up. I mean you could call it that, but pin up is in reference to girls dressed in certain styles done for literal "pin up" back in the war years. imagenetion.com has a ton of good examples, and if you look you'll see the body styles might very, but the subjects are basically the same.. Beautiful woman, scantly dressed, very forties looking. Nothing says you can't make a modern version of pin up of course, but it wouldn't fall under the old idea is all that I'm saying. Thanks for sharing though, nice work.

Pencilator: Thanks! I overworked the fun part, so sue me! I wanted to do some weird elongated horses befitting of a deathgoddess. If they looks like giraffs then there is a problem here. Perhaps it is because you cannot see the legs. I'll think hard about them next time. About "landscape", by that I meant format lying down, not that I was going to add mountians, rivers and pretty trees.. Transparent hood is an interesting proposition. But it'd mean that entire dress would have to be transparent, which would be kinda neat, but a lot of work. difficult doing good folds with flimsy fabric. Oh and less is only more when it is brilliant. Us mortals better stay with overly detailed.

Mazelure: Thx! Obviously the styff in the background will have less contrast and focus, but so far most except the body is sketch rather than final.

Serena: Thank u! The proportions are supposed to be exaggerated. They might of course still look wrong, so if you have anything specific i'd be happy to hear it.
EffingAmazing: I stand corrected. It won't be a pinup book. It will be a erotically themed/softcore fantasy artbook. :-)
I do not intend to adjust my art to suit a classification. Seems alot easier the other way around.

Stupidity'sUglyHead: Thanks!

Edit: Update. Messing around with the composition. Had to try the seethrough hood thingy. Interesting. Less cliché. I think i put her too far to the left... Still a long way to go..

No seriously I'd really like some feedback in comparing the two colored ones, pretty please...

imo, i think the darker values look better. it fits the mood and makes it seem more dreary than the 2nd one. But i think the POSE in the 2nd one is a lot better. 1+1=11 .. - JAG

wow ok
the changes are good
the hood looks more subtile now (it was way too massive in #1)
the now position of her arm saves a lot of trouble with the shortening (it worked well in the drawing but the colo lacked here)
the changed colours in the bg and the lighting is cool too (some more variation )
I personally would do some of the "death folks" under the horse too
>gives it this army of the dead feel when they are on both sides<
the more transparent fabric looks nice too

her torso bight be a tad too long
keep on working

Great work so far. This sounds like a fun idea. Death is looking pretty sexy so far. I think the arm position on the second post for her looks better. Keep posting.

HIGHLY nice. The linework alone makes it obvious you know what you're doin', and the painting thus far easily makes it a fact. Don't get distracted by our drooling now, GO GO GO.

in the second colored one her left breast (viewers right) is bigger then the other and seems to be lower. it should be higher and smaller since her arm is outstreched.

Looks awsome though keep at it i really want to see the final results

Thanks guys! These were exactly the kind of comments I needed (the constuctive crits I mean, i dont care much for the compliments LOL!)! Although I'm am/was commited to do these pieces as I want them and to my own liking, I find that very quickly my brain tires of taking a stand... Now I again feel confident about the way forward.

JAG.: Seems to be the general opinion so a combination is what will happen.

Infinit: The death folks was painted over in the testing process and I intended to paint them in again all along. Same with the color, the first one too little, second too much. Will end up inbetween prolly.

darkchild: thanks! I will.

juicess:keeping it loose while painting is difficult for me. Mostly ends up wrong instead..

Snuggles:

sweetoblivion314: You are right there. Must fix the goodies.

Hey there man, must have missed the edit. I like it, much more chill and mystery in this last one,a nd as you said, less cliché
You did a great job on the clothing, more intresting and not as stiff as the earlier. Puting her more to the left did the painting good.
And maybe it was as you said, that they only looked as girafs when we couldn't see the legs.
And we meant the same thing when we talked about "landscape"

Keep at it my friend.

Hugs!

I think if her shoulders were lower that would make the torso look more correct, but that's me. In any case the changes are excellent. I perfer this hood way more than the first. It seems thinner, lighter, but it still has that dark value to it. Very nicely done.
