Good work marco :I read the msn conversation, increible!
I reallllly like the piece you did after it! Keep it up, and dont
give a damn about who your style look like, as long as you havent
been sitting copying this guys style allll day long, then you should
not worry! keep it up
Sorry for the rant, I just had to take this out of my chestOriginally Posted by marco nelor
He probalby did, he, he, influences are unavoidable
so, I even tho I know the previously mencioned artists, guess who
do the images I have seen here remids me of? Marco Nelor!
Yeah actually one thing that I love to do is to read about my art
heros and find out about thier influences, now, and in the time
I have been doing that, I found out that every artist feeds from
some of the shapes that some other artists have created before,
and that goes to the beging of time, I guess the only truly original
artist was the very first guy to do cave paintings, even tho I doubt it,
since we humans are social creatures, he must have talked and
discussed about the paintings with his fellow mate cave men,
so if we are gonna be strict maybe he "stole" the idea of painting
the bisons with the color red from a suggestion of the tribe chaman
as long as the person makes the images "his" all is fare game to me
made by Marko
made by Brom
just in case I didnt made my self clear on the previous rant,
Im not for copying Im for interpretation and studing, form every posible
resource I can find dont stresst it, just draw and relax,
Oh and, bw nice creature desing, cant wait for the final version,
Im really diging the values you are getting on this stage, I bet
the colors will really push the image to look even better once they are
in place! see ya
ive decided to participate in my GOOD friend wafflehouseninja's 2d fighter thunderdome, but heres something VERY interesting that ive noticed. People used to tell me that my old work was WAAY too cartoony, and animated, so for the longest (as you can see in this thread, ive been tryign to get away from that. ) so when he said, design a 2d character, i was like, SWEET! i can go and use my old style again!!!
But much to my suprise, when doing this.......i noticed that...well.....shit....see for yourself. before i started doing all the studies, i could have NEVER done this with my old style!!! i guess what im tryin to say is, even though practicing is boring, it pays off!!!
keep it up guys.
hahah, someone told me just now in a letter, "man, your work looks so anime'ish, because you exaggerate proportions so much. dude, no woman's legs are that thick."
well, ill tell you this. i only draw what i see around me. and it helps that im black, lol....cuz i see a LOTTA this :
Very nice pic !
Reminds me of some street fighter characters.
Though, i don't know if its done on purpose, but the fingers looks a bit too long and thick. And the shape of the foreshortening of the arm is a bit off, i think because of the lighting. ... but that's just me. I guess you still have some stuff to do on it
I love the work on the legs though =)
o0Dave0o= thanx man! get outta that slump, man! often when im in a slump, i go watch a movie. the newest movies that are coming out these days have EXCELLENT color schemes!
easy tiger= thanx man. thats what im planning on, more more more more!!
bhanu= thanx man. yea, i gotta get outa here. where are you from?
Cartoonfox aka brasshorsekiller(lol) = yea man. why did you ever STOP posting? if i dont draw, or if im not drawing, i feel incredibly guilty, like im cheating on a wife or something, i guess thats the love of it, right?
dile= thanx for the encouraging words, its good to see that you actually looked at my book! i used to always only get the same people looking and commenting, and i was wondering "am i not good enough to get comments from those other people?" but we cant complain, we can only do beter art till SOMEONE looks!
kaktuzlime = yea if this was marko's book, id say this art was sucky too, compared to his other stuff, lol. but its not, its mine, and its good for me, hahaha
maxometer= so true, so true. all i can do is learn from other people, right? "Style" is what you develope through studying the old masters. thats what my painter teacher yused to tell me in college. the more you study, the more your style comes out..i could copy some famous artist to the teeth, but my style would still be in it i guess.
recursive= yah, im struggling with that arm in my mind, but im not gona TOUCH it until i know EXACTLY how to fix it, otherwise, itll look muddy and overworked. and yea, her hands are big, because its for a "design a 2d figher thread"..and in college, a guy told me, oversizing the hands and feet are powerful. much more powerful than undersizing them. but yea, i think they may be just a bit TOO big.
Rhynome= you say your not one to comment, EVERYONE has somethin to say tho, and as long as people have something to say, ima listen and learn on it

@ your replie : I see what you mean I love reading
in peoples book, espcially if they are beginners (IM NOT SAYING YOUR A BEGINNER YOU ARE FUCKING TALANTED!!) cause they got VERY nice
crits from the pro's alot of times and I can snap up
Always something new to learn when I open someones sb
Hey marco, great new stuff, keep working at it... I really liked that post of that conversation you had with your friend... I am in a sort of similar situation, I work at a potato chip warehouse and it eats up 40-50 hours a week, and I get enough time to work out eat and sleep, so I only get a little bit of time to work on drawing/painting, but I'd really rather be supporting myself doing that..
The way I see it, I enjoy making pictures very much, I have had lots of ideas of (careers) I wanted to persue, but there has never been anything else that I have continued to come back to. I love to see a image I made make someone smile or laugh, and I love seeing how my art work has improved and continues to improve with the more time I put into it. If I just keep doing it every chance I get, and continue to practice, then soon or later my practices will be at a skill level where others will pay me for them. and hopefully put a smile on peoples face!
Growing up I was always wanting to do something that made tons of money and be rich and famous, but now I see that money is not that important, and If I could make the same money moving potato chips with forklifts, doing paintings, I would be much happier painting.
And one great thing about making pictures, you can be anywhere to do it nowadays with the internet.... So dont look at it as "I have to get out of here" , just keep practicing where you are, cause like any form of art, if you are putting time into it, you will improve, and that definatly shows in your art work. I'm sure in time you will get noticed and won't have to do a job that makes you unhappy. Just keep doing what does make you happy.
Sorry for that long post here, but I really think you are right, peoples don't share their thoughts about their art work more, and sometimes thoughts can be inspirational to others as well as the art work.
Life! everything we paint is from life, even if its some crazy creature or something, the colors are from life, the shapes are from life, life is a giant changing cavas. Just look at the clouds, they look like paintings!I found out that every artist feeds from
some of the shapes that some other artists have created before,
Nice lines, good flow and weight! Colors are a bit muddy/'burny' sometimes, diving too much into the black (thus flattening all shadows to the same plane). Last one with the girl has some spiffy colors though, knee and such, esp since you're dulling down colors at some places to afford saturation on others. Uniform designs are nice (esp the leatherjacket/straps guy) but tech designs sometimes seen a bit too much like random parts that are scattering or preventing important shapes to form.
i like your latest work. hehe... i think your images look like marco nelor's stuff. have you ever gotten that comment!? haha!
yeah, another artist i know (hyung tae kim) makes ladies thighs huge... i like that style and big thighs means better baby making.
keep it up and never give up!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG i was just in the process of typing "if one person says my shit looks like hyung tae kim's shit.....ima shoot myself in tha face!"
guys we GOTTA quit comparing to other artists, it drives the lot of us crazy!!!! as SOON as i saw the assignment, i said, "yea, i wana make myt fighter with legs like chun li's legs!! those were hot. " fifteen minutes into doing it, i said to myself....dude, someones gona say this is like Kim's stuff now. lol.
Hey marco, sorry for posting this, I just felt the need to explain my point
to Mr-Joe, as he er... kinda pointed part of his comment to me
By every posible resource Its implied that I include life & nature
marco was talking about other artist influencing his work, thats why all
my rant is directed towards that, ofcourse that I agree with you,
nature and life is a BIG influnce as well
Oh and just for the record I didnt thought of anything influence like about theOriginally Posted by maxetormer

Woah so much happened behind my back.Killer pose man.she is real kick assing fleshy women. No barbie doll that most artists these days(including me) draw.I have seen that th thinnest models have wider pelvis and bigger thighs than the girls artists make.
But you know what this pics is my fav.
Umm I am from India.Mind if I ask why you asked for my country.Waiting or more updates man.
Great sb! That girl with a knife is perfect. Love your colors, you have great style, keep it up!
Practice mos def pays off!
I dig your characters, designs and environments. Did I mention the varied color choices are sweet. Keep on.
alright!! i think im not afraid anymore.....i used to see other peoples stuff, and say "man ill NEVER get good as that!!! how does he do that!!??? well, im still not that good, but at least im not afraid anymore. ive been working on this all weekend, and while my speed isnt up to part yet, i know im getting somewhere. i made some minor adjustments...decresed the size of her head,a nd increased the size of her waist.....added TONS of detail to certain prop items. background is next
that piece is pretty sweet, cool stuff in here...
Wow. You are an inspiration. I just looked thru your sb and you have amazing talent. I am going to go practice now. VERY nice stuff. Keep it up.
